The Witcher: 5 Characters Who Would Make The Best Romantic Partners (& 5 Who Would Make The Worst)

0

Even though it started out as a Polish fantasy book franchise, The Witcher gained even more popularity abroad when three games came out based on this unique word. Netflix's show followed next and popularized The Witcher even more. The various forms of the story also managed to introduce many great characters. Some became instant fan-favorites while others were far less popular.

As the name suggests, The Witcher focuses primarily on Geralt of Rivia but has a rich plethora of characters, both heroes and villains. Besides fighting, it also gives a lot of space to romance, but not all characters would make good partners.

10 Best: Geralt Of Rivia

This list wouldn't be complete without the main hero himself, Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is much more handsome in the games and on the Netflix show than he's in the books. What remains the same is the fact that he would do everything for his friends.

He's brave and has a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Geralt isn't a perfect partner, since he travels around a lot, constantly puts his life in danger, and is hung up on Yennefer, but he's still better at romance than many more The Witcher characters.

9 Worst: Anna Henrietta

Anna Henrietta, the Duchess of Toussaint, played a part both in the books and in The Witcher 3. Anna Henrietta isn't a bad person, but she's a bit spoiled and wants everything and everyone to behave the way she prefers.

She suffers from mood swings, can be kind and pleasant one moment, and threaten to have her partner executed the next moment. Such instability wouldn't work in a long-term relationship.

8 Best: Regis

If one could accept the idea of having a relationship with a centuries-old vampire, then Regis would be a good choice. He sometimes annoyed Geralt in the books with his know-it-all character.

But he's a good guy overall. Regis wants to help people, he's intelligent, attentive, and kind. He's a good protector as well, thanks to the fact he's a Higher Vampire and has a rich array of powers.

7 Worst: Vilgefortz

Vilgefortz has yet to show his true face and everything he's willing to do on the Netflix show. But his actions in the books speak for themselves. Vilgefortz is an awful human being.

He's willing to torture people to achieve his goals. He torments both Yennefer and Ciri, kills Geralt's good friend Regis, and he knows his assistant is in love with him but ignores her affection, doesn't offer her any resolution, and the list goes on.

6 Best: Shani

Interestingly enough, even though Shani wasn't one of the main love interests in The Witcher 3, many fans liked her better than Yennefer or Triss and believed she should have been. Shani is an old friend of Geralt's. She's a medic, an intelligent young woman determined to save as many lives as possible.

Shani longs for love, but at the same time, she has enough things going on and wouldn't be obsessed with her partner, which is always a good thing. She helped Geralt when he needed her and took their break-up graciously - in fact, she was the one to suggest it!

5 Worst: Syanna

Syanna plays an important part in The Witcher. As a banished princess, she's full of anger and determined to get revenge, even though it means killing her own sister.

Syanna isn't above manipulating people, and she stages her own kidnapping to make her former lover, the vampire Dettlaff, kill her enemies. Syanna's manipulative nature would make forming an honest relationship with her an almost impossible task.

4 Best: Ciri

Ciri is still very young in the show but as for the books and the games, that's a different story. Ciri hasn't had an easy life but she's still kind to people, and always willing to help.

She can be impatient and sometimes snaps when she feels people are trying to control her. But overall, she's very loyal to those she cares about and would put a lot of care into any relationship. She also has a flirty and fun streak so a partner wouldn't be bored with Ciri.

3 Worst: Triss

All her beauty and kindness aside, it's better to stay away from Triss. In the books, Triss was obsessed with Geralt even though she knew he was in love with Yennefer.

And in the games, she used his amnesia as an excuse to get together with him, and she convinced Geralt she was his one true love. Triss has a lot of redeeming qualities as well, but she doesn't make the most moral decisions when it comes to love.

2 Best: Jaskier

Jaskier, or Dandelion in the games, is the sort of friend people could use on their side. He's a bit goofy, true, and often causes chaos and makes mistakes.

But at the same time, Jaskier is loyal to his friends, attentive, has a sense of humor, and would spend hours writing poems about his partner's beauty. He can be a womanizer, true, but as The Witcher 3 proved, it was all about finding the right partner for him.

1 Worst: Yennefer

She might be Geralt's one true love, but Yennefer of Vengerberg isn't so good at love. In the books, Yennefer thought it okay to be intimately involved both with Geralt and Istredd at the same time - only for her to leave them both in the end. She likes to insult others, has zero patience, and it can be difficult to be around her.

Yennefer simply rubs people off in the wrong way, and even though she has some good character traits as well, not everybody would be willing to stick around long enough to get to know her better.
