Maidstone United vs. Braintree Town

After Maidstone United progressed in the FA Trophy thanks to a 2-1 win over Dorking Wanderers on Saturday, the Stones are back at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday as they host Braintree Town in the league.

Iron are struggling this season. They are second bottom in the table with ten points from 15 games. Below them are Welling United who have eight points and have played four games less. On Saturday, Braintree went down 3-2 away at Slough Town with Slough scoring the winner deep in stoppage time at the end of the game.

The result means that Braintree have four out of their last six matches with their only victory coming against Dartford on 9 January. Iron have been strengthening their squad as they look to rise up the table and have signed former Maidstone midfielder Reece Prestedge in recent weeks.

Maidstone’s season had been disrupted up until recently but the Stones too have only won one league fixture out of their last six. That victory came away at Eastbourne Borough last Tuesday but their most recent run of form does contain three draws in a row.
