The Congress and CPI(M) in the state however came out in her support and condemned the incident that took place at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata on Saturday in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and state governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. Banerjee had refused to give her speech at the event because the crowd started chanting when she got up to address them.
