National Guard to remain in D.C. through 2nd impeachment trial: Many test positive for Covid
Morale amongst National Guardsmen in D.C. is great, says General Daniel Hokanson. No doubt many Guardsmen are making the best of their deployment and enjoying the break from the 10 month surreal War on Covid.
Not so fast with the save face coverups, General, say others, including elected officials upon hearing of the conditions for the Nationalguardsmen in D.C. as well as the vetting of the National-guardsmen for disloyalty.
“This is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard. No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. @TexasGuard I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC. I’ll never do it again if they are disrespected like this,” Governor Abbott of Texas said earlier in the week.
Ron DeSantis@GovRonDeSantis·4h joined in: “Last night, I ordered our Adjutant General to bring Florida National Guard soldiers home from the National Capital Region.”
That the National Guard was deployed to guard at the inauguration is tradition. What stood out in stark contract this year is the numbers deployed, an estimated 25, 000 from nation wide., as the National Guard reported:
Thousands of National Guard troops streamed into the nation’s capital to support law enforcement during the presidential inauguration, building to a force of 25,000 members. Many of the Soldiers and Airmen arrived via the Air National Guard in a historic airlift.
Some 125 Air National Guard aircraft flew 134 sorties into Washington Jan. 12-15, bringing more than 7,060 National Guard troops and 2.3 million pounds of cargo from around the nation. The flurry of flights into Joint Base Andrews in Maryland continued, handled by the 89th Airlift Wing.
National Guardsmen focused on the Covid war in 2020 and still do as many deploy to distribute vaccines. That the Guardsmen face harsh conditions in war torn regions is well known. But this deployment was to the Capitol of the United States during a time of lavish inauguration events. That some were forced to sleep on the floor in a public display broadcast worldwide from the Capitol that had taken on the semblance of a war zone became the issue. The display of the stark hypocrisy of the value of our Servicemembers protecting the elite enraged governors and elected officials.
That the war on Covid was overblown is hotly debated. But that is not the point. Mandates are in place. To call the 6 January violence at the Capitol an insurrection is simply to use the term loosely as a political tool. But Pelosi with her irrational vitriol, is hell bent on a 2nd Impeachment.
Covid is high in the Biden administration agenda with its mask and social distancing mandate. Yet National Guardsmen were in crowded conditions, making the Covid mandates impossible to maintain. For one, masks were sometimes unavailable as were Covid tests during Pre-deployment, and the six feet distancing was impossible for the 25,000 deployed. Over 200 National Guardsmen and 38 Capitol police officers have tested positive according to Newsweek and other media.
5-7000 are to remain through March in case the Capitol gets rowdy during the 2nd Impeachment in the Administration of unity who’s policies, including allowing the 2nd Impeachment to progress, are divisive.
“We’re looking at probably mid-March right now,” General Daniel Hokanson said,
“If President Biden is sincere in his call for unity, he will tell @speakerpelosi not to send her impeachment article to the Senate, and tell @senschumer to choose national security over vindictiveness…..I believe an impeachment trial of a former president is unconstitutional and would set a very dangerous precedent. There is no provision in the Constitution for holding such a trial over a former president who is now a private citizen. Where would we get the authority to do so?“ Senator Johnson said. Other Republican Senators agree.
