Pokémon GO: How to Defeat Moltres (Movesets, Weaknesses, & Counters)
Moltres is the legendary phoenix-like Pokemon within Pokemon Go. It stands as the symbol for Team Valor and who make a great addition to any Valor group. Luckily, Moltres can be collected at the Raid Battles, however, they must be defeated first.
Moltres is a Fire and Flying-type Pokemon, but there is more to think about than just the type when fighting any Raid Battle Pokemon. Within these battles, the Moltres can have a CP up to the 50,000 range. Luckily, players will be able to pick a whole team of their Pokemon to face the beast.
As a Fire and Flying Pokemon, Moltres is weak against Rock, Water, and Electric-types. Rock is the counter type that is most effective against Moltres by nearly 100% more than Electric and Water. However, players should also be concerned with what types of attacks the Moltres focuses on. Most of the Moltres' Charged attacks are Fire, but they also have Normal, Rock, and Flying-type moves.
Moltres' Fast Attacks
- Wing Attack (Flying move) - Deals base damage of 8. This attack is strong against Fighting, Bug, and Grass, and weak against Rock, Steel, and Electric.
- Fire Spin (Fire move) - Deals base damage of 14. This attack is strong against Bug, Steel, Grass, and Ice, and is weak against Rock, Fire, Water, and Dragon.
Moltres' Charged Attacks
- Ancient Power (Rock move) - Deals base damage of 70. This attack is strong against Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice, and is weak against Fighting, Ground, and Steel.
- Fire Blast (Fire move) - Deals base damage of 140. This attack is strong against Bug, Steel, Grass, and Ice, and is weak against Rock, Fire, Water, and Dragon.
- Heat Wave (Fire move) - Deals base damage of 95. This attack is strong and weak against the same Pokemon as the other Fire-type moves listed.
- Sky Attack (Flying move) - Deals base damage of 80. This attack is strong against Fighting, Bug, and Grass, and weak against Rock, Steel, and Electric.
Moltres is also resistant to quite a few types of attacks. Particularly, Moltres is resistant to Ground, Fire, Steel, Fighting, Fairy, Grass, and Bug-type Pokemon. This means that players won't have much to choose from within their group. Mostly stick with Rock Pokemon, but players should consider bringing a Water or Electric Pokemon if it has great stats and attacks in comparison. With this in mind, Moltres' best counters are Rampardos, Rhyperior, Terrakion, Landorus (Therian), and Tyranitar.
