10 Awesome Movies You Forgot Josh Gad Was In | ScreenRant
Josh Gad has quickly become one of the most well-known and beloved actors in recent years, with his performances earning rave reviews from critics and fans alike. While he's well-known for this Broadway work with The Book Of Mormon, or for being the voice of Olaf in the Frozen movies, there's a lot more to his career.
Josh Gad has been in some huge movies throughout his entire career, and while some of them are constantly talked about, others aren't. There are plenty of Josh Gad performances that have ended up slipping under the radar, despite the fact that the movies are actually brilliant.
10 Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012)
One of Josh Gad's most famous roles is being the voice of the snowman, Olaf. However, that isn't the only wintery animation movie he has been involved with throughout his career. That's because Josh is actually part of the Ice Age franchise, joining the cast for the fourth installment, Ice Age: Continental Drift.
The movie once again takes the lead characters on an adventure, only this time, it is 16 years after the third movie and there are home lives to consider, too. That is where Gad's character of Louis comes in, as he is actually Peaches' closest friend, with Peaches being the daughter of Manny, who is one of the lead roles.
9 The Angry Birds Movie (2016)
Another great animated movie that Josh Gad is part of is The Angry Birds Movie, which was created following the incredible success of the mobile video game. The movie did a great job of expanding the characters with clear personalities, with Josh Gad voicing Chuck.
The three characters gamers know so well, Red, Chuck, and Bomb are all unable to fly and they end up as real outcasts. However, the green pigs appearing is what ends up opening the chance for them to prove themselves, using their abilities to their advantage in a movie that is jam-packed with comedy.
8 The Internship (2013)
The Internship is another great comedic movie that stars both Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in the lead roles. The two men end up unemployed and then find themselves in an internship at Google, despite not having the real tools to thrive, leaving them to learn as they go.
Josh Gad comes in as the character known as Headphones as he always wears them and is someone who is very socially awkward. However, there is a twist to his character. The movie is a fairly underrated one and does provide a lot of laughs, despite the fact it's neither Vaughn nor Wilson's biggest hit.
7 Marmaduke (2010)
Speaking of Owen Wilson, another time he and Josh Gad were in the same cast was for the movie Marmaduke, which has become a cult classic. The movie which follows Marmaduke, who is a Great Dane, has a lot of great voice acting throughout, with a cast that features the likes of Emma Stone, Steve Coogan, and George Lopez.
The plot focuses on Marmaduke as he moves to California due to his owner moving home. Because of that, he's introduced to a whole new world and plenty of new dogs as he makes new friends and one of those dogs, known as Bandana Dog, just so happens to be voiced by Josh Gad.
6 Love & Other Drugs (2010)
This '90s-set rom-com sees Jake Gyllenhaal take on the lead role of Jake Randall. He is someone who spends his life dating different women, but when he meets Maggie (Anne Hathaway), things begin to change, although so does his career at work.
As with any romantic comedy, there are moments of lightness and great humor, while also having some sad, low points. Josh Gad plays the role of Josh Randall, who is Jake's richer brother, and while he's not a lead role, he does add to the movie with his charisma.
5 The Wedding Ringer (2015)
Josh Gad actually takes on the lead role in The Wedding Ringer, which is a hilarious movie that sees his character Doug struggling to find a best man for his upcoming wedding. Because he's not overly social, he doesn't have many options and that leads to him working with a company that supplies random people to take on the role.
The company is owned by Jimmy, who is played hilariously by Kevin Hart, and the two of them form a bromance which is the real story of the movie. It's jam-packed with great laughs and is a really underrated comedy.
4 Murder On The Orient Express (2017)
This is a story that has been told plenty of times throughout history, being based on the 1938 novel by Agatha Christie. It's a classic murder mystery that takes place on a train, which leads to a detective trying to investigate which passenger committed the crime.
The cast of this movie was strong, with Johnny Depp, Kenneth Branagh, and Judi Dench being amongst the actors involved. Josh Gad was also in the movie, playing Hector MacQueen, who was a secretary to another passenger, played by Depp, who is a notorious gangster, which instantly makes them potential suspects.
3 21 (2008)
Movies about Las Vegas and counting cards have been done plenty of times, and in that sense, 21 isn't unique. However, it is one of the best of its kind, and the fact that it's inspired by a real story of an MIT Blackjack Team learning how to count cards does make it engaging.
Josh Gad plays Miles, who is friends with the lead character, Ben, and he gets brought in later on in the movie to help join the team. Even though it's a gripping story, it's still contains one of Gad's forgotten roles.
2 Little Monsters (2019)
A horror movie isn't something that people would typically think about for Josh Gad, but because Little Monsters has got a lot of comedy spliced in, he was a perfect casting for the role of Teddy McGiggle. His character is a television personality who turns out to be the opposite of the person he portrays.
Teddy proves to be a difficult person to deal with throughout Little Monsters. Like other zombie movies, this one is all about survival, and Josh Gad's character doesn't do a great job of that.
1 Jobs (2013)
Jobs is a biographical movie that focuses on the life of Steve Jobs as he co-founds Apple Inc. He starts that company with Steve Wozniak, who is played by Gad.
Because this isn't the over-the-top funny role that a lot of people associate with Josh, his performance here is slightly unknown. However, he takes on the real-life role and really thrives with a tremendous performance, showing a more serious side to his acting ability.
