Family Guy: 10 Side Characters Who Deserve To Be The 5th Member Of Peter's Friend Group
Peter's friendship group in Family Guy certainly has been through a lot, even if there has been conflict along the way. Their wacky adventures are always a fun treat, even in modern episodes. They definitely all mesh well together, even if they have differing personalities in a plethora of ways. However, with this show having so many characters, it would be kind of interesting to see them add a fifth member to their friendship group.
Brian would make sense, but the primary issue that stops this from occurring is the fact that Quagmire loathes him. Therefore, they would likely need to befriend a popular side character if they wanted to make their group stronger. With this show being on the air now for over two decades, there certainly would be a ton of options at their disposal.
This friendship group has been cemented for a long time now, so a potential added member would have to work with them perfectly. It certainly is a difficult task to complete, but that does not make it impossible to do so.
10 Tom Tucker
Tom Tucker would be such an intriguing option to go with. Sure, he is famous in Quahog, so successfully getting him to join the group would be hard. Yet, even with this being the case, he has spent time with them in the past.
He definitely has a personality that has the potential of working well with them too. Outside of work, he even acted as Peter's father when he was dating his mother. Therefore, the connection is definitely there to be explored yet again.
9 Mort
Mort has definitely spent a lot of time with the group since the beginning of the series, so it would make sense for him to hang out with them more. He may not necessarily be the biggest of drinkers, but he still would offer a lot of comedy.
He definitely could use some closer friends too, as his character has not been used a lot in that specific area. The one issue that could occur with him as their fifth group member is that he could become the vulnerable punching bag for them.
8 Dr. Hartman
Aside from being the Griffin's family doctor, Dr. Hartman does not have nearly enough storylines. He is actually a hilarious character too and would definitely mesh well with the rest of the group because of his personality.
He has been a character for the whole series too, so he has had a lot of time with Peter. Incorporating him with the rest of the group makes this notion not so farfetched. In fact, it could even be encouraged by fans.
7 Carter
Carter has been nothing but trouble for Peter. He feels that Peter is not good enough for Lois, so he has been hypercritical of every action that the latter partakes in. Yet, could a friendship between him and the group work? Potentially.
This is due to the fact that Carter has been known to have fun, especially when he is away from his family. He definitely is focused on work and it impacts his personality and actions, but if he learns to manage it better, it could be a great addition to the show.
6 Mayor West
Due to Adam West's real-life passing, this friendship will not happen. Yet, with how funny Mayor West's character was, he absolutely warrants a spot on this list. He honestly could have been the perfect fit, as he was zany and was always the life of the party.
Many fans considered him to be one of the best characters to ever be on this show, and that definitely is fair to state even today. It is a shame that he did not become close with the group, as he was perfect for it.
5 Ernie The Giant Chicken
Peter and Ernie the Giant Chicken have been engaging in fisticuffs since the very beginning of the series. It is shocking that they have yet to severely injure themselves doing so, as they have gone through some intense fights.
Yet, wouldn't it be amazing to see these two permanently make amends? A giant chicken in the group would be a fun change. It would also be intriguing to see how he would relate to the rest of the group members too.
4 Jerome
Jerome works at The Drunken Clam, so he is often there attending to the group while they drink. Therefore, with him always being around anyway, it would make sense for them to start hanging out more outside of work.
Jerome is definitely a bit more serious than the rest of them, but he also would add a new type of dynamic. The group does not seem to have a true straight man, so his calmness and sensibility could prevent a lot of future conflict amongst them.
3 Carl
Carl is a side character who has not really been given a lot of storylines. This may be because he is a bit boring, but honestly, he does also provide a lot of subtle humor that ought to be appreciated far more.
The idea of him joining the group is pretty intriguing and could help the series. He seems to get along with most other characters, as he is very easygoing and not confrontational. These are good qualities in a friend, but his personal interests may be far different than the rest of the group.
2 Seamus
Seamus is such a unique character. The fisherman would offer a lot of interesting stories for the rest of the group to hear if he were to join them. This could very well make him a welcomed addition.
He is a character who interacts with them fairly often, so he also knows them very well. There also could be a lot of amazing potential stories to explore if he were to be given a bigger role on the series.
1 Principal Shepherd
Principal Shepherd would be a very intriguing addition to the group. He is not the best of principals, as he often refuses to acknowledge when he does something wrong. Therefore, perhaps it would make sense to have him get fired and have him seek friendship.
Principal Shepherd has not been seen much outside of the school, so his true personality may be different than what the show displays. He also is at a similar age as the rest of the group, so that helps in his favor.
