Yankees Manager Aaron Boone on Medical Leave To Receive a Pacemaker

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone will be away from the team as he plans to undergo surgery to receive a pacemaker. Boone had open-heart surgery almost 12 years ago, and over the last few months, he’s been experiencing some lightheadedness and shortness of breath, among other symptoms.

Boone’s recent checkup identified a lower heart rate, which led to discussions with doctors about receiving a pacemaker.

The Yankee manager will take his leave immediately and is not expected to return for several days. His absence shouldn’t do much to impact the Yankees’ spring training preparations. After all, players are often given offseason programs, and they should be able to carry on even if the manager is not around.

After picking up back-to-back wins, the Yankees are back in action tonight for their fourth spring training game. New York is currently listed at -220 to win the AL East, +230 to win the pennant, and +550 to win the World Series.
