What MCU Movies & Shows Darcy Lewis Is In After WandaVision
Kat Dennings’ Dr. Darcy Lewis has definitely made an impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After appearing in Thor and its sequel Thor: The Dark World as the assistant to scientists Eric Selvig and Jane Foster, Dennings reprises her role as the lovably sarcastic astrophysicist in WandaVision. While Darcy has aided Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Vision in figuring out what’s happening with Wanda Maximoff and her sitcom reality in Westview, the Disney+ series won’t be the last fans will see of the character. What’s next for Darcy after WandaVision, and what does her future in the MCU entail?
In WandaVision’s fourth episode, Darcy was brought in by S.W.O.R.D. — the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Department — to decipher what was happening in Westview and why Wanda and Vision’s lives were now a sitcom being broadcast from inside of the hex. Of course, Darcy’s return was a bit of a surprise, especially considering that fans haven’t seen her since the end of Thor: The Dark World. There was no information regarding her whereabouts in Thor: Ragnarok, nor did Darcy appear in either Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
While she was noticeably absent from later films, Dennings has confirmed that WandaVision won’t be her final MCU role. In fact, the actress revealed she will be in multiple upcoming Marvel projects. The studio has plenty of TV shows and movies coming out in the near future, including Black Widow and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. With that in mind, Darcy could realistically return for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Scarlet Witch will also appear in the film and, considering that Darcy already has experience dealing with extradimensional situations and magic, it makes sense that she would be called upon once more for assistance.
Perhaps she’ll be schooling Doctor Strange and Wanda about the concepts of the multiverse, which hypothesizes a numerous amount of worlds existing at once in space and time. By extension, Darcy could even show up in Loki, the Disney+ series centering Thor’s brother. Loki will be traversing time and space, which presents yet another reason for Darcy’s involvement. She does have a doctorate in astrophysics and it’s not impossible to imagine she might play a role in reaching Loki. At the very least, she could investigate what happened to him. This is all in addition to the fact that Darcy knows a bit more about Loki than others since she was introduced to his villainous ways through Thor and The Dark World.
Dennings getting in more MCU appearances is never a bad thing and WandaVision proved that she can be more than Jane’s assistant, expanding her connections beyond the scientist and Thor. All that said, fans shouldn’t expect Darcy Lewis to pop in during Thor: Love and Thunder. While Jane is returning for the film, becoming Mighty Thor in the process, Dennings revealed that she will probably not be in Love and Thunder. That’s a shame because her presence has always brought some levity to dark and threatening situations. However, fans can at least take comfort in knowing that Darcy will continue being a part of the MCU in Phase Four.
