Fresh Tsunami warning after third huge earthquake hits New Zealand

A third huge earthquake has rocked the coast of New Zealand, sparking a fresh tsunami warning with residents told to evacuate immediately.

A magnitude 8.0 earthquake has struck the Kermadec Islands for the second time on Thursday.

Another large 7.2 magnitude earthquake about 900 kilometres away on the east of the North Island that struck hours earlier and was felt by thousands.

Following the third quake, authorities said evacuation should be immediate as a damaging tsunami is possible.
