Jackie Bradley Jr. Agrees to Two-Year Deal With the Milwaukee Brewers
Jackie Bradley Jr. never seemed to be in the Boston Red Sox’s plans as they opted to allow him to hit the free-agent market without much consideration, even to resign him. That’s now in the past, as ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported today, that Bradley agreed to a two-year deal worth $24 million with the Milwaukee Brewers.
It’s not often that you see free agents still looking for work after the start of spring training, as Bradley was clearly the top unsigned position player. His deal will also include an opt-out after the 2021 season.
Bradley began his professional career with the Boston Red Sox and had eight MLB seasons under his belt. In the pandemic shortened season last year, he had a .283 /.364 /.450 slash line with seven home runs and 22 RBI’s. Despite it being a smaller sample size, it was Bradley’s best big league season in terms of average and on-base percentage in his career. He’ll be joining a Brewers team that finished 29-31 last season but still made the postseason as a wild card team thanks to MLB’s expanded playoff format.
