MANAGER SIGNS NEW LONG TERM DEAL

We might still be waiting for information regarding the 2020/21 season but off the field we have plenty going on as we plan for the 2021/22 season and beyond.

With these plans in mind, we are delighted to announce that manager Phil McGuire has agreed a new long-term deal with the club.

Phil joined the club in October 2018 from Brechin Vics and has been in charge for 59 games, winning 35, drawing nine and losing fifteen.

General Manager Mark Johnson said, “We have big plans for the football club on and off the park, it has been a tough time for everybody during the pandemic and football clubs are no different, stability is vital if we are to build on the work we have already put in and Phil is a major part of what we are doing so to have agreed a new long term deal is a massive boost to us.”

The Manager added “It has been a difficult time for everyone over the last year, it’s actually allowed me, on a personal note, to take stock of a few things that are important and those issues or the negativity that aren’t important at all.”

“I’ve seen significant changes in players over the past year and the importance of what football actually brings to them. We have been working so hard as a club to assist and allow a sense of normality as and when we can, that the Club and Players fully understand and appreciate.”

“When I have been speaking with the Club and the good people around it, I’ve always stated that progression can be measured in so many ways with performances, consistency, individual developments etc, I know the next stages of development will be a mixed bag both on and off the park, but they are so important to the club and the town as a whole, creating a sports culture.”

“Personally, I am delighted to continue this development and extremely thankful that, as a club, they see the importance of flexibility to develop on and off the pitch. This made the decision to agree a new deal a lot easier to make. I am grateful to the key people in and around the football club, community club and the town that realise development is key for the community and Carnoustie as a whole. I fully expect some positive changes in the coming months and years which will allow that development to be a huge asset for all to enjoy.”

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers that have assisted in doing work in and around the club. Special mention must go to Tam Stewart who works tirelessly in and around the club and to Peter Glen who sadly passed away recently, he will be sorely missed by myself and all the players. Finally, the coaching team that have worked wonders, Stevie, Paddy, Alan, Paula and most recently John, because they are part of the bigger picture, buy in to what we are doing and play a significant part in the clubs development.”
