[Basketball] Basketball All-Conference Honors Announced
Doane Women's and Men's Basketball placed two players apiece on the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) All-Conference list for 2020-21. Haylee Heits (SR/Rulo, Neb.) was recognized on the Second Team with Madison Davis (SO/Yutan, Neb.) receiving honorable mention honors for the women. On the men's side, Jaxon Harre (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Anthony Laravie (SR/Omaha, Neb.) received honorable mention recognition.
Heits, a four-time all-conference selection, was recognized as a Second Team member for the third straight year. She led the Tigers with 13.6 points per game and was second in rebounds with 5.9 boards a contest. She added a team-high 16 blocked shots. On the season, she shot 48.2-percent from the floor and 83.7-percent at the free throw line. Over her four-year career, Heits averaged 13.0 points per game, scoring 1,361 points, 13th-most all-time at Doane, and posted a free throw percentage of 79.3-percent, second-best in program history. She also had 91 blocked shots, sixth on the Doane charts.
Davis collected a team-high 58 steals this season, ranking third in the GPAC in steals per game with 2.76/gm. She averaged 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and dished out a team-high 68 assists. From the floor, Davis converted 44.7-percent of her field goal attempts while hitting 10-of-32 3-points attempts (31.3-percent). She shot 73-percent from the free throw line.
Harre led Doane with a team-high 125 rebounds this season, averaging 5.0 boards per game. He was second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per contest and second in steals with 22. For the year, Harre shot 51.1-percent from the floor, including 37.3-percent behind the arc (19-of-51), and 70-percent from the free throw line. Over four seasons, he recorded 686 points (5.9/gm), 384 rebounds (3.3/gm), and 107 assists (0.9/gm).
Laravie led the Tigers with 16.4 points per game this season, 7th-most in the GPAC. He added a team-high 60 assists and 34 steals while sitting second on the team in rebounds with 118 (4.7/gm). He shot 42.7-percent from the floor, hitting 32.8-percent of his 3-point attempts (57-of-174) and 79-percent from the charity stripe (49-of-62). Over four years, he recorded 1,585 points (14.3/gm), 436 rebounds (3.9/gm), 261 assists (2.4/gm), 121 steals (1.1/gm) and a school-record 271 made 3-point baskets.
