Among Us Quickchat Update Makes the Game Easier To Play
UPDATE (3/5/2021 3:15PM ET): The official Among Us Twitter has sent out an announcement stating that some game lobbies on certain platforms aren't working properly as a result of the update. The developers are currently working on a fix. The original story follows.
An Among Us chat update now gives players access to a Quickchat wheel, which will significantly improve the game's text messaging experience across all platforms. Among Us is perhaps best known for its appearances on content creation channels, where it's a staple of multiplayer sessions involving deception, trickery, and communication.
The latter element is one that's crucial to the Among Us gameplay experience, and the success of communication within the game can be dramatically altered based on a given player's setup. Games with voice chat are often what fans think of when envisioning how the game plays out, but the reality of the situation is that many players access Among Us on mobile or in lobbies with strangers. Because of this, Among Us text chat options are important, and the game's previously clunky interface has been something many players wanted changed in upcoming updates.
Developer InnerSloth took to the game's official Twitter to announce the Among Us Quickchat update, which has been added as of v 2021.2.21 and will immediately make the game easier to play for a slew of users with different needs. Among Us Quickchat is something that fans have been asking for as an alternative to the title's original in-game chat which, while streamlined, was still awkward to use and could waste valuable time for users, especially those on mobile devices.
The Among Us Quickchat option is described as an "easier, faster, and safer option to play" for text chat users, and is already getting a lot of praise in replies to its announcement on Twitter. The announcement also teases a more substantial Among Us update in the works, with the tweet acknowledging that fans are "waiting for the big update news too" and that more info is coming soon. The new function is also available on all versions, which will make it a more standard experience and part of the learning curve for newer players regardless of platform.
Among Us Quickchat is a huge get for the millions of players who use the title on mobile devices or simply don't have access to voice chat setups. Making the game more accessible is a huge deal with something as popular as InnerSloth's multiplayer title, and there's little doubt it will benefit greatly from a new, simply chat function.
