Curse of the Dead Gods: How to Beat The Cursed Twins (Boss Guide)

0

To survive the extremely brutal world of Curse of the Dead Gods players will need to stay on their toes at all times. Not only do players have to face off against many deadly monsters, but they also have to avoid being killed by a host of dangerous traps and try not to pick up too many debilitating curses on their journey. Everywhere that the player looks there is something there waiting to kill them.

This goes double when the player is fighting against the different bosses and champions in Curse of the Dead Gods. At certain points of a run, the player will come across these different enemies and must do a lot to stay alive. One such enemy is one of the Jaguar temple's champions, Litz and Nepac The Cursed Twins. This guide shows players how to prepare for and defeat the Cursed Twins.

Preparing for this fight is by no means an easy feat, and those who aren't properly ready for this fight probably won't do very well. Not only does the player need to know how to beat this champion, but the best weapons and blessings to use against it. Here are the best weapons to bring to the fight:

  • Main Weapon - Hunting Axes: This weapon is able to be thrown from a distance, which allows the player to keep some space between them and their foe while still causing damage. Additionally, this weapon will also deal 100% more damage against enemies who have been weakened, so it will couple well with an ability that causes this effect.
  • Off-Hand Weapon - Ceremonial Dagger: This dagger is lightning fast and is capable of dishing out high amounts of damage against enemies in the blink of an eye. It is ideal to parry an attack before using it to punish an enemy as much as possible before running away. Players will also gain a +3% increase to their base damage for every point of perception that they earn.
  • Two-Handed Weapon - Either Crippling Bow, Primal Hammer, or Barbed Javelin: All three of these weapons are a decent choice and it really just comes down to the player's fighting style. The thing is that the player really won't be using these weapons to deal damage, but rather to inflict the weaken status effect on enemies. This allows them to switch to the hunting axes to dish out more damage.
  • On top of weapons the player should try to bring at least one, but preferably both of these blessings with them:
  • T'amok's Breath- This blessing will grant the player a 50% chance to turn all of their non-elemental attacks into a fire attack. This means that all of these weapons the player has equipped will have a chance to deal damage over time to their enemies while they are recovering stamina or dodging attacks.
  • Favor of Sich'al - With this blessing in hand the player will earn 1000 gold and five points of perception at the beginning of their run. This gold can be used to purchase relics or upgrades for their character, but the real exciting part is the perception points. This will grant the player increased damage with the ceremonial dagger.

On top of all of this, the player should try to pick up as many upgrades and relics on their journey as they possibly can. Any increases to health, damage, or perception will be incredibly helpful during this fight. Relics like Obsidian Fragments (random increase to damage against weakened enemies), Jaguar Claws (random increase to fire attacks), or Sich'al's Pendants (random increase to perception) are particularly useful.

The tricky part about defeating the Cursed Twins in combat is that there are two of them to defeat, but luckily the player doesn't have to fight them at the same time. Instead, they will switch out at certain intervals, but this means that the player will have to change up their strategy at different points in the fight. There is a pattern that these two follow though, so if the player sticks to that they should be okay.

When the fight begins the player will have to face off against Litz The Sun Twin first. She wields a whip and employs a few different skills from a distance:

  • Beacon Summoning- The very first thing that she will do is summon beacons in the room. If the player gets too close to the beacons or attacks them they will explode.
  • Whip Attack - She will attack from range with her whip. It can either hit the player or one of the beacons which will cause them to explode. She tends to attack twice in a row before going back to summoning more beacons.
  • Tagging Out - Her third ability only happens when Litz switches to her twin. All of the remaining beacons in the room will explode. A large dark corruption circle will also appear around her that will damage the player and add corruption points if they are inside of it.

The way to handle Litz is to pick a corner of the room to hand out in and stay there for the most part and try to keep the number of beacons in the room to a minimum to avoid being overwhelmed. Whenever the player sees an opening on Litz they will want to rush forward with their two-handed weapon (or shoot her from a distance with the bow) to inflict the weakened status effect on her. This will then ensure that the hunting axes will deal double damage to her as long as that effect is active.

Players will want to hit her whenever they see an opening to deal damage but will want to look out for beacons and her whip attacks as well. Beacons should be destroyed whenever possible to avoid Litz activating them at an inopportune time to damage the player. Also whenever she uses her whip attacks the player will want to try and parry them if possible to avoid taking damage.

Once Litz drops below 75% health she will then switch to her twin Nepac. Nepac has these abilities that he will employ against the player:

  • Dash Attack - No matter where the player is in relation to the boss, Nepac will dash at them instantaneously. As soon as he finishes the dash he will turn invisible.
  • Dagger Attacks - Nepac will reappear and begin attacking the player with his daggers. He will attack the player with three fast strikes then dash at them and do a fourth. All of these attacks are able to be parried.
  • Explosion Switch - Whenever he drops below 50% health, Nepac will summon a circle around him. After a few moments, an explosion will take place within the circle and he will switch back to Litz.

Unlike Litz, the player will not be able to keep their distance from Nepac and will instead have to fight him face to face at all times. For this, the player will want to keep their Ceremonial Dagger at the ready constantly due to the speediness of its attacks. The dash is almost too fast to parry, so whenever the player sees him trigger it they will probably be better off dodging it entirely. After this, he will go invisible, but the player will be able to track his movements slightly due to the subtle smoke cloud that will move around.

When Nepac reappears he will immediately go into his dagger strikes attack, which if the player is good enough they will be able to parry completely and stop the attack short. The first three attacks are hard to parry, but the fourth attack after the strike is much simpler. Just wait for the dash, parry, and then punish the small opening that this leaves for an attack. The player will then just need to keep this up until he switches back. The fight will then just follow the same pattern until both bosses go down for good.
