Boys Spinoff Show Casts Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina & Rookie Actors
The first cast members for Amazon's The Boys spin-off have been announced, with Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway leading the series.
The in-development spin-off to Amazon Prime's The Boys casts Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway. Over the course of its first two seasons, The Boys has cemented itself as one of the best shows currently on television. It's based on the satirical comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and envisions a world similar to our own, but where superheroes are everyday celebrities. Their fame, power, and corporate backing has corrupted them, and Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) titular Boys are a group of vigilantes who seek to take the supes down. Season 2 premiered on Amazon last fall, with season 3 being ordered before it even arrived.
Like any other hit show, The Boys has yielded a spin-off. Amazon announced in September that a new series set within the world of The Boys is in development and will be overseen by producer Craig Rosenberg. The untitled project will center on the only Vought-sponsored university for young superheroes. Described as an R-rated series that's part Hunger Games, part college show, The Boys spin-off will explore the lives of hormonal and competitive supes as they vie for contracts in the biggest cities across the country, thus putting their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test.
The Boys spin-off is gradually starting to take shape, with the first cast members being added. Deadline reports that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Jaz Sinclair has been cast as young supe Marie, while Lizze Broadway (The Rookie) will play her fellow classmate Emma. No further details were given about either of these parts, not even their powers.
At first glance, Marie and Emma don't appear to line up with any characters from The Boys comics, so it looks like the spin-off is venturing into new territory. Previously, producer Eric Kripke said the new series is loosely based on The Boys' version of the X-Men, or the G-Men. The basis of that team will be used for the spin-off, but the characters can bring an original twist to the concept. It'll be interesting to learn more about Marie and Emma as the spin-off continues to come together.
Meanwhile, The Boys recently began work on season 3 in Vancouver. Based on this timeline, it looks like The Boys will return for more episodes before the spin-off premieres. With that in mind, season 3 could lay some hints about what's in store within the spin-off. Perhaps Sinclair and Broadway's characters will make appearances, or the Vought school will get a shoutout. Either way, there's a lot on the way for fans of The Boys, so everyone better buckle up.
