How to Defeat The Lich in Loop Hero (Boss Guide) | Screen Rant
Throughout the course of Loop Hero the player must go up against a wide array of different deadly enemies if they want to make it through to the end. The main aspect of the game is defeating different enemies to acquire cards that can in turn be laid down to create better tiles and summon stronger enemies. Doing this will help the player acquire better gear and stat increases as well.
It is imperative that the player does this so that they can hold their own against the different bosses that this game throws at them. The very first boss of the game is The Lich, and he is an enemy that can prove to be notoriously difficult to bring down. Those who hope to win in a fight against The Lich must ensure that they are well prepared for it. This guide shows players how to defeat The Lich.
When deciding to go up against a boss in Loop Hero, the player has to manage a few different things to prepare themselves for the fight. They need to decide what the best class to use is, what traits and gear they should equip, and how they should design their loop. If the player doesn't think about each of these things they will most likely not make it through the fight in one piece.
The very first thing that the player is going to want to decide is what class they should use. Players can really use any of the classes that they want to defeat The Lich, but by far the best option is the Rogue. The biggest reason is that the Rogue is perfectly geared towards avoiding damage as much as possible, and The Lich is able to dish out high amounts of damage that should be avoided. When playing as a Rogue the player will also want to get the amulet from The Arsenal. This gives them a magical health bar that isn't affected by things like Dune or Desert cards.
There are several stats that are useful for players to try and boost for their Rogue. The player will want to work on acquiring gear that grants them increases to Evasion, Vampirism, and Critical Hit chance. Increasing Evasion will grant the player a chance to completely avoid damage, and for this fight it's best to try and boost this as high as possible. Vampirism is another great stat to boost because every time the player damages The Lich they will actually absorb the same amount of health. Critical Hit chance should be boosted to increase the chance that the player will deal a heavier hit to The Lich as well.
There are also several traits that the player will want to get their hands on before this fight:
- Picky - With this trait the player is able to more quickly acquire good gear because it increases the quality of items that the player can exchange trophies for.
- Old Scars - This one is great because it grants a permanent HP boost for every single trophy that the player acquires when playing as the Rogue.
- Lethal Weakness - Every time that the player loses 10% of their max HP there is a .5% chance that they will deal an attack that causes 1000% damage. If this lands it will be capable of tearing through The Lich.
- Lightning Fast - There is a 20% chance with this trait that the player can deal a three-hit combo to enemies and each hit will deal 50% damage.
One of the first things that players are going to want to do with their loop is use Dune and Desert cards throughout it. Each of these tiles will lower the health of every character that is encountered from there on out. If the player has the amulet though it will not be affected by this mechanic, so this means that the player can effectively lower The Lich's health while still keeping a full health bar.
An ability of The Lich is that at certain intervals of a run he will summon Palaces around the player's campsite that will increase his health and damage-dealing capabilities. The trick to avoiding this is to build around the area where the Lich's crystal is. Palaces are only able to be spawned around the crystal in an unoccupied space, so building there will ensure that he is unable to do so.
The single tile combination for this fight though is a Hungry Grove. The player will want to build a Grove and a Blood Grove right next to their camp. They can then use an Oblivion card to remove the Grove completely and turn the Blood Grove into a Hungry Grove. This has the potential to harm the player, but it will also devour any enemy that is below 20% health. This includes The Lich, so the player should use this to their advantage.
Here are a couple of other useful tile combos:
- Blooming Meadows - Each of these that the player puts down on their loop will restore 3 points of health every three days. This is very useful for preparing for the fight.
- Mountain Peak - By building a Mountain Peak the player is able to increase their health by 135 points. They can also grant themselves and additional 5 points for every rock or mountain that is built next to it.
- Shipwreck - By building a Shipwreck the player is given the opportunity to grant themselves better quality gear from a chest, but they will have to fight a Siren first.
If the player has done all of this they should be in a prime position to bring The Lich down with no real issues. Their Rogue should be able to avoid a lot of the attacks that are thrown at them and their high critical hit skill should be dealing high amounts of damage to the boss. On top of this though they should be able to constantly heal themselves as well with their vampirism stat. The biggest trick to this fight though is to make use of the different traits that have been acquired and try and pick up as many trophies as possible before going up against The Lich. Players should also remember that if they can bring the boss's health down below 20%, there is a chance that the Hungry Grotto will finish him off for them.
If players are having a huge amount of trouble against the boss, they will want to remember that the difficulty will scale to their level. This means that the more loops that the player completes then the more powerful The Lich will eventually become. To avoid this the player can try to fight The Lich earlier if they wish by defeating as many enemies as possible in order to acquire cards. These can then be used to build more areas and boost the boss meter up enough to summon The Lich. Keep in mind that fighting the boss earlier though may mean that the player may not have had enough time to acquire the best gear and traits available to them.
Loop Hero can be played on PC.
