Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Rosa Diaz initially gives off the impression of an insensitive detective who doesn’t care a lot about emotional attachments. However, as the show progresses, the viewers see the real side of Rosa - the caring friend.
In a show with many beautiful friendships, Rosa’s friendships with Jake and Amy definitely place itself on top of the list. While the immature Jake and secretive Rosa’s friendship that started since academy is quite wholesome, Rosa’s friendship with Amy, where they have each other’s back, is equally heartwarming.
10 Jake And Rosa: When Jake Got Jealous Of The Swedes
In Episode 9 of Season 3, the precinct welcomes two officers from Sweden as a part of an investigation. Rosa and Jake teamed up with the officers but found them annoying very soon because of their condescending attitude. However, one thing Jake and Rosa were also surprised by was the openness the detectives had and the extent to which they were aware of their personal lives.
Although Jake and Rosa made fun of it initially, they realized how different their friendship was. Rosa found that Jake was disappointed in not knowing much about Rosa’s personal life. At this point, the fans see Rosa coming out of her comfort zone and making a deliberate effort to talk more openly with Jake - even helping Jake come up with an anniversary gift for Amy.
9 Amy and Rosa: Not The Only Girl At The Table Anymore
After Rosa was offered a promotion to become the Captain of the newest precinct, the viewers see a jealous Amy after Rosa was offered a promotion. Although she tried to deny it at first, Amy made it very clear that she was jealous when she started questioning Rosa's capabilities and leadership skills.
When Rosa pressed her on this, Amy said that she had been raised alongside seven brothers, which is why she is very competitive in life. In this moment, Rosa decided to show Amy some support by insisting said that she isn’t the only girl at the precinct anymore. She further admitted that she would always have Amy’s back.
8 Jake And Rosa: Shenanigans Since Academy
Rosa and Jake have picked up a bunch of playful activities since they were in the academy. In the episode ‘Pontiac Bandit,’ the fans were introduced to the ‘1000 push-ups,’ which is a pact made by them. As per the pact, if one of their hunches goes wrong, they have to do 1000 push-ups.
Hence this is their way of trusting each other. Yet another activity they picked up since academy is Rosa chucking donut holes into Jake’s mouth, which they did with perfection at the precinct.
7 Amy and Rosa: The Sleuth Sisters
In Episode 21 of season 5, Amy and Rosa team up to catch a criminal who hadn't been able to catch previously. Both of them believed that they were the reason for him escaping the last time.
While on a chase, Amy hurt herself and dislocated her knee. At the end of the episode, the fans see both of them catching the criminal and owning the name ‘Sleuth Sisters’ that Amy had titled earlier.
6 Jake And Rosa: When They Lay Aside Their Egos In Two Doug Judy Situations
The fans witness a furious Jake when Doug returns in the second season. Jake was not willing to make a deal with Doug after he screwed up their deal last time. However, when he realized that Doug has intel that will be useful for Rosa’s task force, he accepted the deal. Rosa also returned the favor when Doug appeared in a later season. This time Jake wanted to strike a deal with Doug to catch a drug lord, Rosa supported his plan even though Doug cheated her and escaped the last time.
5 Amy and Rosa: Appreciating Amy’s Ideas During The Heist
The fourth season of Halloween heist witnessed Amy and Rosa teaming up to win the plaque. Amy felt so proud upon realizing that Rosa went through Amy’s Halloween heist binder in which she had laid out the plan for the heist.
When Rosa started using codenames from the binder and told that she read the suggested reading, Amy wished the night hadn’t ended.
4 Jake And Rosa: They Care About Each Other's Lives
When Jake was troubled with his feelings for Amy, Rosa extends her help. She gives him her friend's number and told Jake it is important to start dating someone else as Amy was already involved with another person.
At a later time, when Rosa’s girlfriend Jocelyn was about to break up with her as they were not getting enough time together, viewers see Jake taking responsibility for a case allotted to both of them because he wanted Rosa to go after Jocelyn.
3 Amy and Rosa: ‘Never Have I Ever’ At The Bachelorette Party
Rosa is the most active participant in Amy’s bachelorette party and suggests the idea of playing ‘Never have I ever.' It was during the game they realized that Amy’s ex-boyfriend is the lead singer of the band that Jake booked for the wedding.
Upon hearing this, Rosa tried to steal the contract as the singer refused to cancel the booking. She failed, but Amy was able to snatch it at the time and burn it off. Later, Rosa appreciates Amy for breaking the rules and calls her a "badass" in ‘Never have I ever.’
2 Jake And Rosa: When Jake Gets Obsessively Involved In A Case
The fans love seeing the Jake-Rosa duo working on a case. In episode 6 of Season 6, Jake is seen to get very obsessed with a murder investigation. He gets very emotional and promised the mother of the victim that he will find out the culprit.
However, every clue led him to a dead-end which started worrying him, leading to sleepless nights. Rosa interfered here and reassured Jake that she will have his back and supported him throughout the investigation.

In the penultimate episode of Season 7, Rosa went alongside Amy to take part in a contest to win a stroller that Amy has been dreaming of. Although she couldn’t win it for her, Rosa stood for about 20 hours and competed against Amy’s ex-boyfriend Teddy Wells. In the final season, the fans see a very caring Rosa who took care of Amy during the delivery despite finding the process gross.
