THURS NIGHT WEEKLY QUICK-PLAY COMPETITION
Thurs 11th March 21 – 8:10pm to 9:40pm
Congratulations go to Richard Kynoch with a dramatic ending, just piping Andre Babin to the top spot with one second to spare! Yes Andre was leading with both players on the same points, but Andre ahead on percentage tie-break. Just before the clock hit zero, Richard closed out his game while Andre was still playing, wow! Once time runs out, any matches still in play do not count for the competition! Talk about cutting it close!
Due to that finish, Andre Babin despite winning all his games had to settle for runner-up spot this week! Oggy Kolev was in third place a little behind the top two!
STANDINGS
1st – Richard Kynoch – 26 pts (80%)
2nd – Andre Babin – 24 pts (100%)
3rd – Oggy Kolev – 16 pts (67%)
All-in-all 14 players took part this week and that was with Castlehill teams being involved in two TAFCSA matches as well!
Welcome to new Castlehill member Adam Pinnington in his first Castlehill event. It turned out to be a “baptism of fire” but I am sure we will make him welcome and help him improve his chess!
