Hood: Outlaws & Legends Hunter, Ranger Classes Detailed In Trailers
The Hunter and Ranger classes for the upcoming heist multiplayer game, Hood: Outlaws & Legends, are detailed in new gameplay videos. In development by Sumo Digital, creators of PS5 exclusive Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Hood, places players in the shoes of four different classes of thieves to loot strongholds. Each match's goal is to locate the sheriff, take his key to unlock a vault, and steal the chest inside.
Each heist will have two teams of players competing to score the treasure, navigating a large fortress with NPC guards that will try to kill them if spotted. As the game nears its release, Sumo Digital is releasing trailers for the game, explaining the four classes, the perk system, and more. These trailers are also the first look at gameplay since its gameplay reveal during the 2020 Game Awards.
Trailers on publisher Focus Home Interactive's YouTube channel show how the Hunter and Ranger classes work during a heist. The Hunter is an assassin class that can turn invisible, assassinate guards, and throw smoke bombs. The class specializes in stealth while using a mid-range crossbow. Players can modify the crossbow's speed and damage or expand the Hunter's stealth capabilities by resetting stealth with each assassination. This trailer also talks a bit about what to do with the gold won after a match.
The Ranger is a sniper class that uses a longbow to take out targets from long-range. This class can also use flash bombs, tag targets for teammates, and shoot an explosive arrow that can stick to enemies. Rangers can have their close-range abilities enhanced with perks to use arrows as a melee weapon or dealing more damage when further away from a target.
These trailers dropped a week apart from one another, so it is fair to assume that the next two classes will be revealed over the next two weeks. The other two classes that have yet to be shown are the Brawler and the Mystic classes. The Brawler works like the team's tank, absorbing and dealing large amounts of damage and able to complete objectives faster. Mystics are healers that use poison bombs to slow opponents. They are more of a support class but can be modified to do more damage.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends remains relatively under the radar at the moment, but as it approaches its early, pre-order-exclusive May 7 release, more information about the game will almost certainly be released. However, no amount of informational videos or minor pre-order bonuses can win a day-one playerbase on its own, so Hood will have to win its PvE audience over with post-launch support and clear expectaitions.
