Citing a rash of gun violence and the need for upgrades to Toledo’s parks, city and community leaders on Monday urged city officials to establish a new Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth Services, and Educational Engagement that was approved by Toledo City Council and then vetoed by the mayor earlier this month.
