Markus Golden Re-Signs with the Cardinals

It has been a good day for former Giants’ pass rushers. Romeo Okwara reportedly agreed to a three-year, $39M contract with the Lions on Monday, and Golden will be heading back to the Cardinals for two years and $9M. The Cardinals acquired Golden from the Giants in a trade last October, and he racked up three sacks in nine games with the Cardinals. Overall, Golden ranks eighth among edge rushers in terms of total pressures since the start of the 2019 season, so this seems like a bargain for the Cardinals.

Golden will pair with J.J. Watt and Chandler Jones to give the Cardinals an elite trio of pass rushers. Health has been an issue for Watt and Jones recently, but both players are among the best in the league at getting to the quarterback when at full strength. The Cardinals ranked eighth in adjusted sack rate last season, and they have the potential to improve in that department next year.
