Rudy Gay (foot) Ruled Out Monday vs. Clippers
Gay was initially listed as questionable due to a sore left foot for Monday’s contest vs. the Clippers, but he has been downgraded to out. Lonnie Walker also remains out of the lineup with a wrist injury. The second half of the season will be extremely compressed for the Spurs, who had several games postponed during the first half of the season. With that in mind, head coach Greg Popovich will exercise caution and look for rest spots for his veterans when he can.
With Gay and Walker out of the lineup, Dejounte Murray figures to carry a slightly larger workload than usual. He’s increased his usage rate by +3.1% with Gay, Walker, and LaMarcus Aldridge off the court this season, resulting in an average of 1.10 FanDuel points per minute. Gay played 25 minutes in the Spurs’ last game, and those minutes are likely to be absorbed by Jakob Poeltl, Devin Vassell, and Trey Lyles.
The Spurs are currently listed as 5.5-point home underdogs vs. the Clippers on FanDuel Sportsbook.
