Map: 3.9 earthquake in Mendocino County

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded Wednesday morning near Ukiah, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake occurred at 8:41 a.m. along the Big River 15 miles northwest of Ukiah.

Responses to the USGS Did You Feel It? website came from a 20-mile radius including Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Willits and Ukiah. The quake was felt most strongly in Comptche, a rural community 7 miles from the epicenter.

It was California’s largest earthquake since a 4.0 on Feb. 12 near Olancha.
