Son called 911 to report stabbing his mom – and accidentally cutting himself
A man dialed 911 to tell police that he stabbed his mother – and accidentally cut himself in the act. Otis James Porter, 38, was arrested without incident on Sunday at a home in Riverside, California, after police found a woman with multiple stab wounds.
Porter apparently stabbed his mother, Linda Coleman, 62, in the midst of an argument and then stabbed himself in the leg by accident, Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback said.
After Porter’s 911 call, officers responded to the 4200 block of Monroe Street around 4:45pm for possible assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Riverside Police Department press release obtained by KTLA 5.
Cops found Coleman not breathing and performed life-saving measures while waiting for paramedics. Coleman was then transported to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.
Porter was also treated a hospital and then booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. He could face a murder charges and it was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call contact Detective Bryon Adcox at 951-353-7134 or Detective Jim Brandt at 951-353-7137, or email an anonymous tip to RPDTips@RiversideCA.gov.
