Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Will Reveal Gameplay Footage Tomorrow
During the GamesRadar-hosted Future Games Show on Thursday, March 25, developer Daedalic Entertainment plans to unveil gameplay footage of the eagerly-anticipated Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Daedalic originally announced the project in 2019 for a 2021 release on PC and consoles. However, the studio and co-publisher Nacon recently delayed Gollum to a vague 2022 launch window.
The delay is allowing the development crew to spend more time on crafting a quality experience that all Lord of the Rings fans can appreciate. A protracted production cycle additionally gives the team a chance to fully leverage the power of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. What's been teased of Gollum, thus far, makes it seem as though players are in for quite the treat. And, interestingly, this particular experience won't be anything like interactive titles of the past that have boasted a Middle-earth setting. Instead of the action-oriented gameplay of Shadow of War, for instance, Gollum will take advantage of the titular character's small size and agility to deliver more stealth-centric gameplay mechanics.
Today, Lord of the Rings fans were treated to news that gameplay footage for LOTR: Gollum will premiere during GamesRadar's Future Games Show tomorrow, March 25. As reported by GameSpot, the broadcast is set to feature the "world's first footage" of the highly-anticipated stealth title. How much will be shown remains a mystery, but audiences can tune in to find out for themselves when the show starts airing at 2:45pm PT. GamesRadar will stream the digital event on its website; Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter are on board to broadcast, as well. Plus, in celebration of the coming gameplay reveal, LOTR: Gollum's official Twitter account posted its first tweet this morning, though the attached video is simply the previously released teaser trailer.
Since its announcement a couple of years ago, very little has been shown of Lord of the Rings: Gollum. In fact, not much is known about the game in general. Still, there's plenty of hype surrounding the project, especially since interactive Lord of the Rings experiences are so few and far between.
Tomorrow's Future Game Show will feature a total of 40 games from several different publishers, including the likes of Sega and Electronic Arts. Thanks to a pre-show hosted by Stephanie Panisello (Resident Evil 2's Claire Redfield), the fun will start before the event even begins.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum will come to Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on an unspecified date in 2022.
