Magic Trade Evan Fournier to Celtics For Two Second-Round Picks

To turn their season around, the Boston Celtics have acquired Evan Fournier from the Orlando Magic. The deal will only require Boston to give up two second-round picks, considering the nine-year veteran will be an unrestricted free agent. In 2016 he signed a five-year deal worth $85 million to stay with the Magic.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge tends to avoid rentals, so the fact that they’re bringing in Fournier could suggest he’s the type of player who would fit into their long-term plans.

Fournier was second on the Magic with 19.7 points per game. He’ll join a Celtics team currently seeded eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 21-23 record. Despite their disappointing record this season, Boston is just 1.5 games behind the Hornets for the fourth seed in the conference.
