[Men's Track & Field] Aschenbrenner Hits NAIA National Standard

0

Mason Aschenbrenner, a sprints/hurdles specialist from Ottumwa, Iowa, hit an NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship qualifying standard in the 110m hurdles on Saturday, March 20th, at the Bearcat Classic.

"Qualifying for nationals is the prize you set out for every year. It's what all of your work is meant for throughout and qualifying is validation that you're on the right path," said Aschenbrenner. "Getting the opportunity to compete on bigger and bigger stages is why I run, and I'm honored to be able to run and be considered among the best."

Aschenbrenner's 110m hurdle time of 14.83 seconds at the Bearcat Classic met the NAIA 'B' standard and currently ranks him seventh in the nation. He is currently 0.8 seconds off of the NAIA 'A' standard, which is 14.75 seconds.

"I was happy to see Mason run the time that he did to start the outdoor season," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel. He came close to qualifying a couple of times during indoor track, so to see him start off the outdoor season with a qualifying time and a collegiate PR shows that we're continuing to make progress. I'm looking forward to seeing what else Mason accomplishes this season!"

The NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship will take place on May 26-28 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
