Among Us Wiring Task Minigame Rebuilt In Real Life | Screen Rant
A creative Among Us fan has rebuilt the game’s wiring task in real life. Among Us first came to prominence last year, when streamers began sharing their gameplay experiences with their friends during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, Among Us has gone on to win the Best Multiplayer accolade at the 2020 Game Awards; an impressive feat for a game that was already two years old at the time of its nomination.
Alongside the responsibility of deducing who is either a crewmate or an Impostor in Among Us (something that is often a lot easier said than done), players must also complete small tasks throughout the maps within the game. Some of these are more tedious and fiddlier than others, with the “Starting the Reactor” minigame being particularly troublesome. Others, though, such as the wiring task, can be completed pretty swiftly and, hopefully, before the Impostor takes advantage of a player’s brief vulnerability.
Now one talented Among Us fan has rebuilt that very same wiring task in real life. Sholip shared their creation on reddit, and the attention to detail is incredible. Not only does their build look exactly like its in-game inspiration, but it is also fully functional. The wiring box that Sholip has built has been 3D printed, and the electronic parts are controlled by Arudino Nano. Then, with a clever use of magnets, Sholip put the finishing touches on a completable task. Once a wire has been connected to its corresponding terminal, a yellow light appears, just like it would within the game. Should the wire be connected to the wrong terminal, however, nothing will happen. The wire lights will time out after a certain period, and reset with a new and random configuration, meaning that the task can be completed again and again.
This is not the only Among Us task to be brought into the real world. Another minigame was also treated to the 3D printer treatment - this time the card swipe task. Again, the attention to detail for this build was astounding, with the real card reader taking the same infuriating time to register a swipe as it would within a game of Among Us itself.
The resurgence of Among Us is truly phenomenal. It has gone from a game that incredibly few people had heard of two years ago, to an award-winning inclusion in a multitude of gaming libraries. These recreations on Reddit are a true testament to just how far Among Us has come, and it is showing no signs of slowing down; InnerSloth’s indie darling is set to make its way to the Xbox as well later on this year.
Among Us is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android, and it will launch on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in 2021.
