UNC’s Kessler Transfers To Auburn
This is an interesting move on a couple of levels
After he got the UNC job, new coach Hubert Davis made it clear that one of his first priorities was to convince Walker Kessler to change his mind about transferring.
After all, Garrison Brooks and Day’Ron Sharpe are both gone which would theoretically mean that Kessler and Armando Bacot could both start assuming Hubert Davis maintains the Dean Smith/Roy Williams preference for using two big men.
Well that plan is now officially a dud as Kessler committed to Bruce Pearl and Auburn Monday.
Pearl will now have Kessler and 5-star forward Jabari Smith to build around. As we said recently, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas basically any SEC school that starts with an A, is going to put serious pressure on John Calipari and Kentucky next season. And we know how Kentucky fans are going to react if they can’t dominate the SEC playpen as they usually do.
So we should probably thank Kessler for making next season more interesting in Lexington and, of course, Chapel Hill.
