Star Wars: The High Republic's Biggest Threat is Children (Literally)
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #3!
A little brat named Krix who's mad at his former friend could help Star Wars' villainous Nihil take down the High Republic's Starlight Beacon despite the fact that he has no powers. Krix has been communicating with a Force-user named Zeen Mrala who's currently on Starlight Beacon with Yoda. Krix is essentially a prisoner of the Nihil and they just caught him communicating with her behind their backs. If he wants to survive, Krix needs help the Nihil ambush the Starlight Beacon.
Krix and Zeen find themselves in this rather strange predicament after flaming balls of space debris came hurtling from the sky towards their planet. Yoda just so happened to be in the vicinity and came to help while the Nihil arrived simultaneously to obtain coveted information about certain artifacts from the planet's elder. Zeen, a powerful Force-wielder, aided the Jedi and eventually left with them to Starlight Beacon while the planet elder brought Krix with him to the Nihil vessel.
Written by Daniel Jose Older with art by Harvey Tolibao, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #3 begins with Krix and Zeen staying in communications via a holoprojector despite Krix being furious at Zeen for hiding her powers from him and betraying everything their elders taught them. When the Nihil discover that Krix has been communicating with Zeen in secret, they threaten the boy to help them ambush the Starlight Beacon, all while trying to exacerbate Krix's negative feelings towards Zeen to compel him further. Meanwhile, Yoda, who already had a vested interest in finding the Nihil vessel, asks Zeen to help him do so once he learns of her communications with Krix.
Even though Krix is just a little kid who possesses no powers, there are numerous contributing factors that make him a worthy adversary to the High Republic. He is not only in a position where he feels as though his life is dependent on him helping the Nihil ambush the Starlight Beacon, but has been hurt by Zeen's betrayal, which will undoubtedly fuel his efforts in hurting her back without trying to betray the Nihil.
Krix also has another weapon up his sleeve. He has proven to be a conniving little schemer who is willing to backstab those who love him to save his own skin. Earlier, he blamed his communications with Zeen on his planet's elder, who the Nihil quickly disposed of despite knowing Krix was the culprit. Even in the Star Wars universe, there's nothing more powerful than an angry, vengeful brat who is more than capable of betraying his loved ones without a second thought.
