Fortnite Adds Horizon Zero Dawn Aloy Skin With Exclusive PS5 Outfit
Yet another PlayStation legend enters Fortnite’s battle royale as Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn is the next to join the Gaming Legends series. Aloy is a part of the Horizon series from PlayStation that released in 2017. Its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, is expected to release in 2021, despite rumors the sequel won't release until 2022. However, that potential delay has yet to be confirmed by PlayStation as of this writing.
Fortnite’s Gaming Legend series has featured skins like Chun-Li and Ryu from Street Fighter, Kratos from God of War, Master Chief from Halo, a Psycho Bandit from Borderlands, and most recently Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, who is part of this season’s Battle Pass. Each of the Gaming Legends packs features cosmetic items for players to choose from for their in-game avatar. These can range from Back Blings and wraps to special emotes like the Lil’ Warthog Traveling Emote from the Master Chief set.
As reported by PlayStation Blog, Aloy follows in the steps of Kratos to become the second game series from PlayStation to join Fortnite’s Gaming Legend series when she arrives on April 15th. In addition to the 'Aloy the Skywatcher' skin, players will be able to purchase the Horizon Zero Dawn Bundle: including a Blaze Canister Back Bling, Glinthawk Glider, Aloy’s Spear Pickaxe, the "Heart-rizon" Emote (which uses the Focus effect from Horizon) and wraps mimicking the Shield-Weaver armor set. In Horizon, the Shield-Weaver armor has glowing hexagonal geometry pulsing over the wearer as a regenerative shield; this effect will be on the weapon and vehicle wraps in the bundle.
Exclusive to PS5 players, the Ice Hunter Aloy style will be available to those who own the Aloy skin and play the game on the PS5 system. This skin style originates from the Banuk Ice Hunter outfit from Horizon Zero Dawn. PlayStation players will also have the Aloy Cup, an exclusive tournament for PS4 and PS5, starting April 14th. Top performing teams in each region of this Duos tournament will unlock the Horizon Zero Dawn Bundle early before it enters the Item Shop.
Additionally, all players are eligible to play the limited-time game mode “Team Up! Aloy & Lara” beginning April 16th. Aloy & Lara is a Duos game mode where one player assumes the role of Lara Croft and the other as Aloy. Lara Croft players will only have the Dual Pistols, while Aloys will have a bow to start. Both weapons can upgrade using materials gathered in-game.
Fortnite’s continuation of its Gaming Legends series is a great way to celebrate the biggest franchises in gaming. Furthermore, Epic’s collaboration with PlayStation gives way to possibly more skins in the future. It could be a matter of time before Ratchet & Clank comes blasting their way onto the island, especially with all the dimensional warping Insomniac’s upcoming adventure featuring the Lombax.
