The Boys Season 2 Is Getting A Companion Podcast | Screen Rant
Months after the finale aired, The Boys season 2 will get its own companion podcast. Amazon Prime's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's satiric comic book series first premiered in 2019 and quickly became one of the streamer's biggest shows yet. The Boys tackles superhero culture, imagining a world where heroes are treated like modern day celebrities. However, with all that power and influence comes a whole lot of corruption, and the titular Boys are a group of vigilantes who seek to take down the biggest supes in the world. The Boys returned for season 2 last fall, and a third is currently in the middle of shooting.
The Boys season 2 brought the series to even bigger heights, both in terms of profane antics and critical acclaim. The arrival of a new member of the Seven, Stormfront (Aya Cash), brought new obstacles for the Boys to face, particularly once they realized Stormfront had Nazi ties. Other major highlights from The Boys season 2 included the surprise return of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten), the story of former Seven member Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore), and the emergence of a head-popping supe, revealed at the end of the season to be Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit).
To ease the wait until season 3, Amazon announced today they will be releasing a new podcast about the making of The Boys season 2 (via Variety). The eight-episode series, titled The Boys: The Official Podcast, will be hosted by journalist Tim Kash and will feature guests such as executive producers Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen. The podcast will also feature stars such as Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Karen Fukuhara, and Cash. All of the episodes will cover wide-ranging topics, such the "girls get it done" fight and that infamous whale boat crash scene.
The Boys: The Official Podcast will be available on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The first two episodes will debut on April 15, and the rest will follow weekly, with the final episode arriving on May 27. For fans who can't get enough of The Boys, or just want to revisit season 2's greatest moments, this podcast will be a must-listen. This comes after Amazon created an after-show for season 2 hosted by Aisha Tyler; it's clear the streamer is happy to produce as much Boys content as possible.
In addition to the upcoming season 3, The Boys also has a spin-off series in the works. In short, there is a lot more ahead for audiences. Though its sophomore run had some major moments, The Boys looks to go even bigger next season, as it will adapt the heavily-NSFW comics run Herogasm and introduce characters like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Little Nina (Katia Winter). The podcast might not have any clues about where The Boys is going next, but it'll be fun to reminisce about what came before while waiting for season 3.
