WINDSOR has been hit by a power cut just hours before Prince Philip’s funeral.
Homeowners and shops suffered a blackout this morning before the Duke is laid to rest from 3pm.

Windsor has been hit by a power cut this morning hours before Prince Philip’s funeral[/caption] Waterstones bookshops was among businesses affected by the outage[/caption]But the power cut has not affected Windsor Castle, The Sun understands.
A message on the Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSE) power company’s website says the outage was reported just after 9am.
Waterstones was among the businesses affected by the loss of supply this morning.
The book store on Peascod Street is less than half a mile from Windsor Castle.
It comes as:

A spokesman for the bookshop tweeted: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll be opening a little late today!
“There’s been a power cut on our street. I’ll update you all as soon as we’re up and running.”
One resident tweeted: “So on the day of the funeral, power cut in Windsor….(diverting all power to those who need it I’m sure).”
And another wrote: “FACT Power cut in Windsor town centre this morning.”
An SSE spokesman apologised for the cut, with its engineers working to restore power in the area.
The electricity provider aims to restore power to the area by midday, just three hours before Philip’s funeral service begins.
The spokesman for the power giant said: “We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
“Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.”

Security in the historic town has been tightened as police scour drains and patrol rivers and a ring of steel is erected.
Cops with rifles and jet-black body armour were seen patrolling the area as the public was told to stay away.
Specialist police search teams were seen scouring drains close to Windsor Castle, where Philip will be laid to rest at St George’s Chapel.
Police patrol boats were deployed on the River Thames, with extra armed cops on standby.
Royal security are prepared to shut roads to stop an influx of mourners for Philip’s funeral.
