China expresses dissatisfaction with US and Japanese statement on Hong Kong and Taiwan
According to the Chinese Embassy, ”the comments of Japan and the United States go far beyond the norms of the development of bilateral relations”.
As reported by TASS, in a message posted on Saturday on the website of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, it is said that China is dissatisfied with the joint statement of the leaders of the United States and Japan on Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the PRC.
“The issues of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang are related to the internal affairs of China. The issues of the East China Sea and the South China Sea concern the territorial integrity of the PRC, its legal rights and interests. All these issues affect the fundamental interests of China and do not allow outside interference”, – the diplomatic mission noted”.
“We express deep dissatisfaction and strongly oppose the joint statement of the leaders of the United States and Japan. China will firmly uphold its sovereignty, security and development interests”.
According to the Chinese Embassy, ”the comments of Japan and the United States go far beyond the norms of the development of bilateral relations”.
“They damage the interests of a third party, mutual understanding and trust between the countries of the region, as well as peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region”, – the Chinese diplomatic mission said.
Recall that on Friday, US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, during talks in Washington, spoke for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, expressed extreme concern over the human rights situation in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, as well as against any unilateral actions aimed at changing status quo in the East China Sea.
