Where To Watch JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes (Netflix, Hulu Or Prime?)

0

Where can the 1992 documentary The JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes be found, and is it available on platforms like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime? The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, in 1963 is still one of the most shocking events in U.S. history. The killing was soon attributed to lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald, who was himself soon shot dead by a man named Jack Ruby.

The assassination of John F Kennedy soon gave rise to a number of conspiracy theories suggesting Oswald didn't act alone, and that there was a second gunman involved. Other theories about why was JFK killed have linked his death to the Mafia or that the CIA were involved. Many commonly believe there was more to JFK's death than the official version, and pop culture has only fuelled that belief. Everything from 2010's Call Of Duty: Black Ops to the MCU has presented different versions of events, with the Winter Soldier being revealed to have killed Kennedy for HYDRA in the latter.

One of the most famous films on the topic is JFK, Oliver Stone's 1991 epic that starred Kevin Costner as Jim Garrison, a New Orleans DA who launched a controversial investigation into the assassination. The film's critical and commercial success helped spark a new conversation into the topic, and in 1992 a documentary called The JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes arrived, which included interviews with Garrison and other key figures in the investigation. This documentary received great reviews, but sadly, it's quite hard to find now and isn't available to stream on services like Netflix, Hulu or Prime.

In fact, The JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes documentary doesn't appear to be streaming on any platforms presently, and can't be rented or purchased digitally either. Presently, it seems options to view the documentary are limited to buying a VHS version, with second-hand copies ranging upwards from $5. The documentary's director John Barbour made a follow-up with 2017's The American Media & The 2nd Assassination Of President John F. Kennedy, which can be purchased or rented from Amazon or Barbour's own Vimeo page.

Like Barbour's The JFK Assassination: The Jim Garrison Tapes, his 2017 follow-up has also received good reviews, with Oliver Stone himself giving it positive notices. Speaking of which, Stone himself also has a new documentary on the topic titled JFK: Destiny Betrayed, which is set to screen at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
