Minecraft Resource Pack Turns Ghasts Into Squids And It Is Terrifying

0

Thanks to an ingenious resource pack by an inventive Minecraft player, the Nether’s horrible ghasts can be turned into squids, and the result is terrifying. It’s not that common for the game’s fans to create something that scary. Usually, user-developed resource packs are used to make peaceful additions and improvements, but that is not the direction one fan has decided to take.

One of the latest resource packs for Minecraft drastically improves the visual quality of various in-game items, most notably changing the looks of regular books and introducing re-skins for other popular items. Enchanted books, for instance, received distinctive makeovers that allow identifying their types at first glance. What’s especially valuable, though, is that the texture resolution wasn’t altered at all, which makes the resource pack fitting for vanilla Minecraft. One bored Minecraft player decided to give the notorious ghasts a fresh look by replacing them with squids, and the result is a sight of creeping terror, achieved thanks to an ingenious resource pack.

Courtesy of 8BitMemes on Reddit, the resource pack turns the ghasts into squids. Although the Nether’s most recognizable hostile mobs are already a literate product of hell, the unlikely squid makeover made them even more terrifying. Luckily, the player didn’t showcase squid-ghasts in action via a proper gameplay video with sound, but honestly, it’s not even required since the single offered screenshot speaks for itself. Additionally, it offers a glimpse of the squid’s bottom part where the teeth are located, and that’s already frightening enough.

Although the featured resource pack is quite small, other types can be used to introduce massive visual changes to Minecraft. That’s exactly the case for a Terraria resource pack, which was put together by a devoted fan of both survival titles. After investing more than a year into the project, the player shared impressive results, showcasing faithfully recreated Terraria’s biomes and items, as well as in-game events and even hostile mobs. Obviously, vanilla Minecraft blocks were meticulously retextured to feature familiar designs from their 2D counterparts.

The squid makeover for Minecraft’s ghasts looks strangely fitting, which actually isn’t that bizarre considering that the game’s immensely famous creepers were the result of a mistakenly modeled pig. The player-made resource pack is just another proof that simple rearranging of blocks and textures can lead to remarkable outcomes, and sometimes, even terrifying ones. Hopefully, giant hellish squids won’t be haunting players in their nightmares.
