The 100: The 10 Best Characters Introduced After Season One

0

For a show that initially started by focusing on one hundred teenagers sent down to Earth, it's probably a bit surprising that some of the most beloved characters are actually not from that core group. That's because The 100 introduced some really interesting people down the line in later seasons.

That includes those who were already on the ground when the 100 arrived, some who were born after one of the show's time jumps, major villains, warriors, love interests, and more. In fact, some of these characters were better written and more intriguing than those who were with the series at the start.

10 Sheidheda

Fans had always heard about the various Commanders of the Grounders from the past. While someone like Lexa was great, not all had a good head on their shoulders. Sheidheda was otherwise known as the Dark Commander and became a major threat in the last two seasons.

While Sheidheda was certainly not a good person, he did make for a good character to have around. He was inherently evil and gave the end of the show a true antagonist who seemed like he was unstoppable. A hated villain like that is almost always entertaining.

9 Jordan

It was hard for audiences not to fall in love with Jordan Green at first sight. His debut came in the midst of a shocking time jump, and the explanation of who he was came after the heartbreaking scene of the life his parents shared. He's the son of Monty and Harper, who fans loved.

Jordan mostly came across as a good person during his short time around. He quickly falls in love on Sanctum and is one of the main people fighting for everyone to be better, which is what his parents always wanted. His genius helps save humanity at the end of the day as well.

8 Gaia

When Gaia first showed up, she came across as a bit annoying to some viewers. She dedicated her entire life to the Flame and it caused her to have a strained relationship with her mother, which fans didn't like because they had grown to really appreciate Indra over time.

That said, Gaia became a likable and loyal character over time. She was at the side of Octavia during her time as the Red Queen before going on to arguably be a better protector for Madi than even Clarke. Gaia went on to reconcile with her mother and help save everyone.

7 Roan

During the middle seasons, the name Ice Nation started getting thrown around more. They were Grounders who remained kind off on their own and one of them was Roan. In fact, he was revealed to be their prince and later, king. He went on to have a complex relationship with Clarke.

Roan often trusted her and her plans despite Echo and others close to him disagreeing completely. It could be argued that Roan was around for the show's best era and he made for a character who was both an ally and an antagonist at times. His death at the hands of Luna during the Conclave marked the end of someone very interesting.

6 Diyoza

After the time jump cliffhanger at the end of season 4, a new batch of prisoners arrived on Earth. They were led by Charmaine Diyoza, who was an instant antagonist. Diyoza was a ruthless leader and former Navy SEAL, which made her a formidable foe.

As time went on, fans understood that she wasn't all bad, just someone trying to survive. She was more like Clarke, Octavia, and other characters than initially believed. The bond that she formed over the final three seasons with Octavia and her daughter Hope made for some of the most heartwarming moments on the show.

5 Madi

In terms of what a new character meant to one of the originals, Madi might top them all. The time jump at the end of season 4 revealed that Clarke was seemingly alone on Earth but was living with a young girl. They met after Praimfaiya and Clarke became a mother figure to her.

There was more to Madi than that though. As a Nightblood, she ultimately took on the role of being the Commander and even though she was scared of Shaidheda, she did her best to stand up to him. A lot of the emotional moments in the later seasons surrounded Madi as fans came to care about her almost as much as Clarke did.

4 Echo

Nobody could've expected Echo to mean as much to the series as she did. When she first showed up, Echo was saved by Bellamy at Mount Weather but went on to turn her back on him. She also famously tried to kill Octavia during the Conclave, which was against the rules.

However, much like Murphy, Echo is a survivor. She earned a way onto the team going to the Ark to survive the Death Wave. While up there, she fell in love with Bellamy and fought for him the rest of the way. Echo was a great character because of her difficult past and how tough she was at every turn.

3 Indra

Like so many others on The 100, Indra first appeared as an antagonist. While she wasn't an outright villain, she viewed the Sky People as intruders and considered Lincoln a traitor. That instantly made Octavia someone she was at odds with but they formed one of the show's best bonds.

Indra trained Octavia and acted as a mother figure for her. No matter what Octavia went through, including her time as Blodreina, Indra was loyally by her side to give advice and defend her. She became a trusted friend of the main characters and got one of the finale's best moments when she killed Sheidheda.

2 Emori

It's yet another character who audiences didn't expect to fall in love with. Emori was first seen as a nomad of sorts, meeting up with Jaha on his way to the City of Light. It was there that she met John Murphy, who she'd be attached to for the rest of the series.

The relationship between Emori and Murphy was arguably the best the show had. She also forged strong friendships with the likes of Raven while on the Ark and proved to be one of the bravest characters of them all during her time on Sanctum.

1 Lexa

Lexa has a very good case for actually being the best character on the show overall and not just of the ones introduced after season 1. The Commander of the Grounders, she surprised many by being a young woman leading these warriors but actually being a total badass who could hold her own against anyone.

She would listen to Clarke and partner up with her when she needed to but she also knew how to put her people first like a true leader. The romance between Clarke and Lexa is still adored by fans and there's a reason why the character returned for a few appearances after her death, including for the series finale.
