Sport Uniting Communities Programme hosts virtual tours webinar

0

Community Sport Development Officers from the Irish Football Association, Ulster GAA and Ulster Rugby recently held a virtual tour webinar as part of the Sport Uniting Communities Programme 2021. Traditionally participants visit the 3 stadiums but Covid regulations have encouraged the club educational visits to be delivered online.

Shared tours to the Kingspan, Croke Park and the National football Stadium at Windsor Park allow Clubs from different codes to address perceptions and build relationships. This will provide informal opportunities for networking for people from different religious backgrounds

In total, 149 participants from 30 clubs across the province participated in the 3 Virtual stadium tours. The focus of the evening was to deliver an enjoyable and insightful experience into the governing bodies home arenas. Volunteers were able to enjoy a quiz that tested their knowledge of the tours and two participants had this to say,

“Thanks, we really enjoyed the tours and will definitely be doing them live with the kids when allowed”

Karen, Finn Valley Rugby Club.

“Thank you for a fantastic presentation”

Vanessa Whyte, Maguiresbridge GAA

“As a family we loved watching the tours. It was great to get an insight into what the players see behind closed doors”.

Patricia McCullough, Ards Rangers

Attention will now turn to the next Volunteer Development Webinar scheduled for the 27th April.

The project supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
