KUWTK: Caitlyn Jenner Leaning On ‘Everyday Californians’ For Election Win
Caitlyn Jenner of Keeping Up With The Kardashians fame is moving full steam ahead with her run for Governor and calling on the support from 'everyday Californians' to secure her win. Her latest battle cry comes one week after the alum announced her official campaign. The news came as a shock to many, including her own family who has already expressed their disapproval.
After recently appearing on The Masked Singer, an election run was the last thing anyone thought Caitlyn had on her list of plans. She's always been a proud Republican voter. But, the I Am Cait star hadn't teased any political aims in her most recent interviews. Since making her campaign announcement, there's been a flood of poor reviews from skeptical critics who think the Olympic gold medalist doesn't stand a chance of becoming California's next Governor. Insiders have even revealed how embarrassed her sons Brody, Brandon, and Burt are by her decision to run for office.
But despite all the public disbelief, Caitlyn has been steadily promoting her campaign by calling out California's current Governor Gary Newsome on Twitter. Most recently, the television star responded to an article shared by The Hollywood Reporter. "Why Caitlyn Jenner's Bid to Replace Gov. Gavin Newsome Can't Count on Hollywood," the title read. But once Caitlyn caught wind of the critique, she shot back while attempting to rally support. "This recall and my campaign will be powered by everyday Californians who are sick and tired of Gavin Newsom’s failed leadership, not from those in Hollywood who are in his back pocket," she tweeted. Her strong stance confirmed the former reality star is serious about obtaining a seat in office.
Many replied to her tweet and continued bashing the socialite for promoting her campaign. But there were some who expressed their backing of Caitlyn, despite not being able to help her win. "I'd be interested in hearing what your policies will be, I don't live in California but I have always really liked and supported you," one fan said. "Looking forward to learning more about what you stand for," they added. With it only being one week since she put her name in the bidding to possibly recall Gov. Newsome, Caitlyn has yet to release the policy plans she's campaigning for.
She has expressed her opposition to anything associated with Gov. Newsome's policies, including prison reform. She called the Governor out on Twitter shortly after announcing her campaign and blasted his prison reform initiatives. Kim Kardashian, a fierce advocate for prison reform, was reportedly disturbed by Caitlyn's criticism considering all the private talks they've had about it. But it looks like Caitlyn is unbothered by who she rubs the wrong way. She's hoping to join the ranks of Donald Trump in becoming the next reality star turned politician.
