Star Wars: Boba Fett Preview Has Him Fighting To Keep Han Solo Alive

0

A new preview for Star WarsWar for the Bounty Hunters event has been released from Marvel Comics, seeing Boba Fett fighting to keep Han Solo alive in his carbonite prison just after The Empire Strikes Back. Apparently, Boba Fett was unable to venture straight from Cloud City to deliver Solo to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine. While new prospects and personal vendettas pulled Fett's focus initially, complications have arisen with Solo which will force Fett to seek a solution as Jabba was very clear: Han Solo must be alive for payment.

In Marvel's Bounty Hunters series from Ethan Sacks and Paolo Villanelli, Boba Fett did engage in some pro-bono work when news came that the infamous Nakano Lash had resurfaced, a bounty hunter who turned on him in the past and tarnished his reputation. Once Fett dealt with Lash, he was then ready to resume his journey to deliver Solo to Jabba, though it seems as though nothing's ever easy for the Star Wars galaxy's most legendary hunter.

Now, StarWars.com has released a new preview for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha #1 coming from writer Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven which will see Fett finally reporting in to Jabba's majordomo Bib Fortuna, informing him that he's on his way to Tatooine with Solo. However, Boba Fett then notices something wrong with the integrity of the smuggler's carbonite prison, forcing him to make a stop on Nar Shaddaa. This could very well be Fett's first mistake in this prologue for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters. Here's the synopsis and preview pages for the upcoming issue.

  • THE STAR WARS COMIC EVENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
  • The notorious bounty hunter BOBA FETT has finally landed his greatest prize - HAN SOLO, frozen in carbonite for easy transport.
  • Fett will bring the smuggler to TATOOINE to collect the massive bounty placed on Solo's head by the fearsome crime lord JABBA THE HUTT.
  • Sounds easy. What could go wrong?

Interestingly enough, the previews reveal that Solo's carbonite matrix is unstable, meaning that if a fix isn't found soon, Solo will simply dissolve and Fett won't get his payday. As a result, it's clearly in Fett's best interest to keep the infamous smuggler alive, even if it means getting involved with the Kanji Hutts of Nar Shaddaa in order to secure a solution. However, Hutts of any faction are not to be trifled with in the Star Wars universe, and it wouldn't be surprising if Fett's interactions with them is what causes him to lose Solo as has been teased previously, kickstarting the War of the Bounty Hunters.

It's an intriguing dynamic that Fett is going to be the only thing standing in the way of Han Solo's certain death, despite not being for any kind of altruistic or heroic reasons. Regardless, War of the Bounty Hunters is going to be a massive crossover event, and it's only going to be more challenging for Boba Fett when the Rebels and Darth Vader himself become involved in future issues from Marvel Comics.
