Animal Crossing Cruella Cosplayer's Puppy Plush Collection Is Worrying
One fan of both Disney and Animal Crossing: New Horizons has brought the two together in the most terrifying way possible. Using custom designs and a bunch of toy dogs, a player has recreated 101 Dalmatians' Cruella de Vil and her hoard of puppies. According to the image's creator, it took a great deal of patience and Bells.
Many players have found that the large number of clothing and items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons useful in creating photoshoots. With the ability to create custom designs, it allows for almost any scenarios or characters to be recreated to make scenes and cosplay. Some might require more effort than others, but Animal Crossing players have proven themselves more than willing to put in the time. With the highly anticipated Cruella live-action movie starring Emma Stone just around the corner, one fan has found themselves particularly inspired.
Animal Crossing player and Redditor jul_acnh has brought the original Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians to the game, and it seems that in this rendition, she won. The cosplay uses clever use of face paint designs to recreate Cruella's famous two-tone hair, as well as what may actually add up to all 99 Dalmatian puppies, represented by the puppy plushes added for the Toy Day event in December. According to jul_acnh, the pups' parents, Pongo and Perdita, are ominously "not here." Even Cruella's sports car appears in the back, complete with tire marks to reflect her over-the-top driving from the classic movie. The creator followed up with a second post, in which viewers can hear what the puppy plushes all sound like together when activated following community requests.
Noticeably, the Cruella cosplay already features a Dalmatian-print fur coat, possibly alluding to what the creator meant by saying the adult dogs are absent from the scene. Of course, being that it's Animal Crossing, it's remarkable that jul_acnh took the time not only to manually set all of the puppy plushes down one-by-one (as this clearly is done on their island rather than Harv's Island), but to also manually activate each. It's a level of dedication that speaks well to Cruella de Vil's own obsessive behavior, so all the internet clout is well-earned here.
This is just one of many Animal Crossing: New Horizons players who use the game's item sandbox and advanced custom design techniques for extreme creativity. Even if there is no in-game benefit to creating such cosplays and scenes, it is obviously enough fun to justify the effort put in. As for this particular post, it's imaginative, impressive, and more than a bit unnerving. But that's par for the course for Cruella - to see her is to take a sudden chill, after all.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
