Wade Miley throws a no-hitter for the Reds
Wade Miley throws a no-hitter for the Reds on Friday night, RotoWire reports. Miley shut down the Indians by going nine innings, striking out eight batters, and only walking one. Miley had lost a perfect game in the sixth inning when Amed Rosario reached on an error by Nick Senzel. The lone walk was to Cesar Hernandez.
Miley had now had a solid start to the season with a 4-2 record, 2.00 ERA, and 0.75 WHIP. He has struck out 27 batters and only walked eight in 36 innings pitched. Miley will next start versus the Pirates and Trevor Cahill on Wednesday as he will attempt to become the first pitcher since Johnny Vander Meer to throw no-hitters in back-to-back games.
This seems to be the year of the no-hitter as we now officially have four (Joe Musgrove, Carlos Rodon, John Means) on the season, five if you count Madison Bumgarner, and yes, I believe it should count, but that’s an argument for another day.
The battle of Ohio will continue today, with the Reds starting Luis Castillo and the Indians going with Adam Civale. The Reds +194 (+1.5) on the run line, +112 on the money line, and the game has an over/under of 7.5, over (-118), and the under (-104) at FanDuel.com.
