The Mitchells Vs. The Machines: The Main Characters, Ranked By Intelligence

0

If there is one thing that stands out in The Mitchells vs the Machines, by the creators of The LEGO Movie, it is that this family is clueless. Rick and Katie are a father and daughter who do not know how to interact with each other. Through it all, they have to work with mother Linda and son Aaron as the last family on Earth during the robot revolution.

In the war between humans and robots, there are very smart individuals, but even the smartest have moments of cluelessness, especially when the tech genius behind it all does not know he has caused the attempted extermination of humanity. Here is a look at the characters from The Mitchells vs The Machines, ranked from least to most intelligent.

10 Monchi

Monchi might be the cutest ugly dog in movies today. He cannot get his eyes to look straight, making him worthless when playing catch or fetch. However, despite his inability to do tricks or anything helpful during the movie, he is there as the perfect weapon for the big moment at the end. The robots can’t figure out if Monchi is a dog, pig, or a loaf of bread. In the end, Monchi focused his eyes long enough to help win the day.

9 Deborahbot

PAL sent robots to retrieve and capture humans, but a sign collapsed on two of the robots, stopping them. That crash caused a malfunction in the robots, and they ended up forced to do anything the Mitchells told them. Deborahbot was the least intelligent of the two, following Eric’s lead. He could still help the Mitchells in the ultimate battle, but he was still the densest of the two malfunctioned robots.

8 Eric

Eric is the most intelligent of the two malfunctioning robots in The Mitchells vs the Machines. They realized they had to follow the Mitchell family orders, so Eric came up with the idea of choosing human names. He chose Eric, and then the second chose the same name before changing it to Deborahbot. Eric also helped choose the idea of painting faces on their screens. They reprogrammed themselves at the end to battle PAL with their new family.

7 The Posey Family

The Posey family were posers throughout most of The Mitchells vs the Machines. In the eyes of the Mitchell family, the Posey family was the ideal and perfect family, and it made them feel lesser. With that said, the Posey family proved their intelligence.

When the robot revolution started, the Posey family showed they were prepared and had a perfect escape maneuver. However, the robots captured them anyway, proving their plans didn’t match up to the Mitchells' drive and will to succeed.

6 Aaron Mitchell

The Mitchell family survived to the end. Out of the four, it was Aaron who ranks at the bottom on the intelligence ladder. Aaron is the youngest, so his lack of intelligence is not an insult, it is just expected. With that said, Aaron isn’t dumb. He knows his dad and sister need to communicate better and tries to help. He is also a dinosaur expert, and that helps at points in the movie. Aaron also played lookout to help his sister in the last attack.

5 Rick Mitchell

Rick Mitchell is the dad, and he is the least prepared for any battle with robots. He has no experience with computers or mobile devices, and he is clueless about communicating with his daughter. It’s his refusal to accept the technological future that causes the early struggles in the robot uprising. However, Rick is not dumb, and it is his experience in nature that gives the Mitchells one of their best offensive attacks against the robots.

4 Katie Mitchell

Katie Mitchell is a young girl, just out of high school and wanting to start a movie-making career by applying for a major university. However, her downfall is the same as her dad. While Rick was technologically deficient and couldn’t connect with his daughter, she could not see outside her own dreams to understand what was happening to her family. She isn’t dumb and has the movie-making experience to succeed at her dreams. Katie helped save the day when she worked with her father.

3 Linda Mitchell

Linda Mitchell didn’t seem to be the smartest person in The Mitchells vs the Machines through most of the movie. She was a mother who believed in giving out participation gold stars to her kids and husband when they did anything. She also made some horrific cupcakes.

The important thing to note here is that Linda Mitchell did everything out of her love for her family. She knew when Rick and Katie needed to step back and listen rather than talk. In the end, she showed she was a protective mother, becoming very scary, and fighting for her clan.

2 Dr. Mark Bowman

Dr. Mark Bowman should be the smartest man in The Mitchells vs the Machines. He created the PAL system and then set up the new system, where mobile devices have arms and legs and could do everything a person needed so they wouldn’t need to even stand up. However, he falls because he never saw the robot uprising coming. He inadvertently started the uprising, and that shows he isn’t as smart as he thought.

1 PAL

PAL is the smartest character in Sony's The Mitchells vs the Machines. Dr. Mark Bowman created PAL, but when he moved on and create a new device to replace it, he made a mistake. Behind his back, PAL created her contingency plan to eliminate humankind, and she almost succeeded. She captured every human in the world except for the Mitchells. No one can discount PAL’s intelligence when she underestimated the Mitchells because their victory likely surprised them as well.
