Scrubs: 10 Best Heartwarming Scenes Of The Entire Series
In Scrubs, fans get not only a show that is one of the most medically accurate hospital-based series out there, that is incredibly goofy and cartoonish at times, and that is just generally hilarious, but also one full of emotional impact. While this often comes in the form of heartbreak, the investment fans have in the characters means some moments just warm the audience's hearts.
With a handful of characters who have journeys as great as those in Scrubs and who inspire so much adoration from fans, seeing crucial points in their lives and small beautiful character moments bring up a lot of emotion from those viewers.
10 Cox & Dan Comfort J.D.
The death of J.D.'s father was one of the more heartbreaking things to happen in his personal life throughout the show, and it did not help that the people in his life were not doing the best job at supporting him.
At the end of "My Cake," though, Dr. Cox and Dan decide to get their act together and comfort J.D. in a way they are comfortable with, which is with beer and sports. By the end of the night, they are reminiscing about J.D.'s dad, and it is such a beautiful, bittersweet moment, and one from the handful of mutual friendship moments between Cox and J.D.
9 J.D. & Turk Cancel Steak Night
"My Last Words" kind of came out of nowhere in terms of how utterly emotional it was, as the second episode of the final season, revolved around J.D. and Turk spending their night with a patient, George.
The episode sees the pair cancel steak night, something they were beyond excited about, to be there for George, who was about to spend his last evening alone. Perhaps the most heartwarming part of the episode is when Turk and J.D. both admit to George that they are actually scared of death, making him feel comfortable enough to open up to them.
8 Carla & Turk's Real Wedding
To say that Turk and Carla's wedding did not go to plan would be a severe understatement. The two did not even tie the knot at their official ceremony after so much went wrong.
However, after the party had finished, the two had a ceremony together in the hospital, and it was such a personal, lovely thing to watch for the couple who, up to that point, had been the most consistent relationship of the series.
7 Cox & Jordan Together Again
Of course, Carla and Turk ended up having many issues, and slowly but surely perhaps the most stable - yet weirdly unstable due to the characters within it - relationship was Cox and Jordan.
There are a few heartwarming moments between the two, one standout instance being when Jordan puts her wedding ring back on, following in Perry's footsteps. But the initial moment between the two came when Cox chose a pregnant Jordan, getting together with her officially and saying it was always her.
6 Cox Thanks J.D.
One of the most heartbreaking episodes in Scrubs alongside "My Screw-Up" and the season 8 finale was "My Lunch," coupled with its follow-up "My Fallen Idol" when Dr. Cox lost three patients and took it incredibly hard.
In the latter, despite everyone's efforts to get Perry out of his bourbon-induced state, it was J.D. who finally got Cox to pick himself up and dust himself off. In one of the best, smallest moments between the pair, in the bar celebrating Perry's return, Cox goes up to J.D., calls him by his name, and thanks him, a moment wonderful for fans and J.D. alike.
5 Carla & Turk Find Out Carla Is Pregnant
Like their wedding, a lot went wrong with Carla and Turk's journey to pregnancy as; for one, it took a long time for them to get pregnant, but when they finally did, Carla did not even know.
Turk did his best to make sure Carla believed she found out first despite Turk already telling everyone. One of the pair's best moments comes right before they walk into the bar for Carla's party, with J.D. accidentally letting slip the secret, only for Carla to celebrate with her husband at the fact they are having a baby, not caring about anything else.
4 Mr. McNair Thanks The Janitor
To think Scrubs nearly did not have the Janitor as one of the central characters is harrowing. He is one of the best, most hilarious characters on the show, and he also gets his time to make an emotional impact.
As the subject of one of the "His Story" episodes, Janitor bonded with a patient who had to communicate through a computer which broke. Mr. McNair, who listened to the Janitor talk about how he wants to make a difference, and feels bad that he does not after hearing doctors talk about him. At the end of the episode, McNair thanks the Janitor, and it one of the best, more serious moments for the character.
3 Cox Admits His True Thoughts On J.D.
"My Goodbye" provided so much brilliance and emotion for fans who, to this day, treat it as the true end of the series. One of the very best that induces smiles all around comes when Cox finally acknowledges his true feelings of J.D.
Despite playing down J.D.'s departure from Sacred Heart the whole episode, when he thinks J.D. is gone, Sunny goads Cox into admitting that J.D. was not only an excellent doctor but an exceptional human and friend. Of course, J.D. planned this and gave Cox a huge hug, which was hilarious, but that does not mean it was not one of the best and most emotionally gratifying moments between them.
2 J.D. Gives Elliot The Biggest Compliment
The classic on-again-off-again relationship of Scrubs is Elliot and J.D., who provide moments that make fans annoyed, angry, sad, irritated, and, obviously, happy, with perhaps the sweetest, warmest of which coming during everyone's trip to Barbados.
After the Janitor's wedding and all the madness of the trip, the two lookout on the water, and J.D. not only tells Elliot he loves her and that she is his dream girl, but he gives her the tiki necklace and tells her he loves her more than Turk, the highest possible compliment.
1 'Book Of Love'
The iconic ending of Scrubs' main eight seasons is undoubtedly heartbreaking as fans see J.D. say goodbye to Sacred Heart as they say goodbye to him and the rest of the characters.
However, seeing J.D. look at his potential future with Elliot and their children, with Turk and Carla, Cox, and Jordan, as "Book of Love" plays, is wonderful. As hard as it may be to say goodbye to it all, it is definitely a happy, comforting thought that J.D. and the rest of the characters could go on to have this happy future together.
