How to Fake Throw in Knockout City | Screen Rant

0

A unique blend of familiar arena-based multiplayer and dodgeball, Knockout City has been impressing players with its addictive gameplay loop and promising potential for future content. Released as a free trial by Velan Studios on May 21, players have been flocking to the multiplayer "dodgebrawler," digging into its gameplay systems and uncovering unique strategies and techniques. One such technique, the fake throw, is a simple yet effective method of throwing enemies off balance and scoring an easy hit.

While some of the more complex maneuvers Knockout City require precise timing or positioning, the fake throw is about as simple as it gets and really requires no training to master. The move is detailed fairly early in the game's training mode, which is a useful way to quickly come to grips with Knockout City'gameplay. If players ever need a place to practice the fake throw - or any other advanced maneuvers - the training grounds or hideout are great places to hone skills.

As one can imagine, players must first find a ball across the map to fake throw. Note, any ball can be fake thrown - including special balls like the cage ball or sniper. To initiate a fake throw, the player need only charge their shot as usual (via holding RT on console or left mouse button on PC), then press the right stick (F on PC). The player's character will display the same throwing animation as a standard toss but will hold onto the ball, essentially providing a pump fake move. The strategy behind the fake throw is to trick an opponent into initiating a catch animation, then clobbering them when their timing is off.

To reiterate, this is a fairly basic tactic in the game's move set, so best to over-rely on the fake throw. It is best used sparingly, or in tandem with other moves to throw off more experienced players. That said, this is certainly the first and easiest maneuver to master, and will surely be a common tactic deployed by Knockout City's fast-growing player base.
