“Done and completed” – Manchester United set to sign Tom Heaton

Manchester United are set to make their first signing of the summer in the form of free agent Tom Heaton. 

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Red Devils are close to signing the 35-year old veteran shot-stopper.

He also reported that Heaton will be returning to Old Trafford on a two-year deal with an option to extend the contract by another year.

A major overhaul is expected in United’s goalkeeping department this summer.

Sergio Romero and Lee Grant are set to leave the club as their contract expires next month. 

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also needs to figure out who should be the first-choice goalkeeper between David De Gea and Dean Henderson.

The other goalkeeper will likely depart from the club as both of them are too good to stay as a back-up.

This will be Heaton’s second stint with the Red Devils. He was a United youth player from 2004 to 2010 but was unable to break into the first team.

As a former England international he will be counted as a homegrown player.

He has extensive experience of playing in England, which will benefit the players around him.
