Grey skies with the a little light rain around the place as Friday kicked off. As of 0900 wind was out of the WSW at 6-8 kts. Both wind and rain are expected to increase. The former will go around to the NE-NW and build to 15-20 kts, while the latter is predicted to deliver 15-25mm of the wet stuff. Swell was 1.3 metres at 11-12 seconds from the SE (151°). As the pictures show, set waves at the Dee Why end of the beach were in the chest high range and surface conditions were smooth.
The Goat rolled out his forecast a little later than usual last night, but his inimitable take on the surf week ahead is now ready for your consideration.
Another week of lockdown coming up. As we all know, the Feds haven’t managed to get enough vaccine for everybody. That means the only defense many folks have is to be diligent about masking and distance maintaining. Let’s look after each other! (Know someone wary of getting vaccinated with AZ? Tell them if they get the virus, they have a 1 in 4 chance of “Long Covid” and 1 in 50 chance of landing in the ICU. On the other hand, people vaccinated with AZ jab have a 1 in 50,000 chance of getting the clotting disorder (& 80% of those cases are treatable). Thanks to Norman Swan on Coronacastfor this factoid.)
