The answer to the question: why did the #32 United Autosport’s Oreca play no part in the first free practice session at Monza this morning received this response:
“United Autosports can confirm that Job van Uitert of the #32 Oreca 07 is currently self-isolating following a positive COVID 19 lateral flow test result on Friday morning. He has taken a further PCR test and the team are awaiting the results. His team mates, Nico Jamin and Manuel Maldonado, are also awaiting the results of a PCR test taken this morning.”
Here’s hoping all is well after that testing is completed.
#11 Eurointernational Ligier Withdrawn After Free Practice Accident
Antonio Ferrari confirmed to DSC this afternoon that the team are in the process of packing up after an accident late in Free Practice 1 for Jacopo Baratto caused heavy damage to the team’s #11 Ligier JS P320, Baratto mercifully unhurt.
“It was a very big impact – the engine is in two pieces”
So no start on home turf for the 2019 ELMS LMP3 Champions, the car’s best result this season a second-place finish at the Red Bull Ring.
Cool Racing Oreca Damaged In FP1 Shunt
The #37 Cool Racing Oreca is undergoing significant repairs after an incident earlier in FP1 saw Antonin Borga in the barriers, the impact sufficient to actuate the ‘media light’, the driver mercifully unhurt.
Team Manager Nico Lapierre told DSC that the team were working hard to have the car back on track as soon as possible.
