Carnage Has a Major Advantage Over the New Venom | Screen Rant
Spoilers for Extreme Carnage Alpha ahead!
There is a new Venom in the Marvel Universe, but in Extreme Carnage Alpha, readers learn Carnage may have a huge advantage over Venom. The first of an eight-part event that will help define Venom, and the symbiotes, new roles in the Marvel Universe, and it starts with perhaps the most twisted symbiote of them all: Carnage.
Carnage is Cletus Kassady, a serial killer who was once Eddie Brock’s cellmate; while there, he became infected with the symbiote and became Carnage, one of the most vicious killers in the Marvel Universe. Carnage has cut multiple paths of destruction and murder until he was seemingly killed by the Sentry in the first New Avengers story arc. He would return from the dead, and after sitting out the last year, and most of the King in Black, Carnage has returned deadlier than ever.
Now, in Extreme Carnage Alpha from Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Manuel Garcia, Cam Smith, Marc Deering, Roberto Poggi, Guru eFX, and Travis Lanham, readers see the progression of Carnage as he works his way through the ecosystem: first taking possession of a fish before moving onto a shark. The Carnage-enhanced shark then attacks a human on the shore, infecting him and then sending him to a militia’s headquarters. The scene then cuts to America, where a xenophobic senator named Crane is running for President on a no-symbiotes platform. He dispatches one of his aides to pick up a Doctor Miller, who is revealed to be Carnage in disguise. He kills the aide and begins a mental assault against Agent Venom. Finally, Doctor Miller/Carnage has made it all the way to Washington DC, where he stands ready to infect Crane and take the Presidency for himself.
The thought of Carnage as President is a horrifying one in itself, but maybe even more horrifying are the fantastic new abilities Carnage has acquired. Part of the reason Carnage is so powerful is because of the bond he shares with Cletus Kassady; Agent Venom comments that the bond between Carnage and Kassady is the strongest. This has allowed the two of them to practically merge into one being, capable of feats Venom is not. The new Carnage is able to possess anyone or anything, from a tiny fish all the way up to a Presdiential candidate; Carnage does not have to worry about maintaining mass as Venom does, giving Carnage a huge advantage. Will Agent Venom be able to stop Carnage from taking over America? What role do Eddie and Dylan Brock play in all of this?
The new Venom is impressive, but the recently returned Carnage has a huge advantage over Venom and readers can see it in Extreme Carnage Alpha.
